I hope I am wrong, but I could see LSU doing a job on the Vols this weekend.

Vol Nation is pretty happy with the current situation because of last year's situation, but have we had our glasses tinted too orange?

So far all I have seen is a great passing game combined with an average defense and a disgusting run offense. I have seen threads on here about "if we win out" and other similar topics. Have we gotten a little drunk on these close wins.

I see a potential beat down coming from LSU, hope I am wrong. Anyone else think this?

I am bracing myself for the possibility that LSU could take us behind the wood shed. I hope that it does not happen.

What scares you most about LSU? Their great (he laughs) running game? Their great (he laughs) passing game? The only thing that worries me about LSU is that they have a very fine Defense. If we don't make turnovers we win.

i don't think i've read anywhere where TN fans are over confident. and as for close wins....were they really? in each close game, we were in position to put those teams away for good much earlier than it actually happened. the fact that we didn't do that should be of some concern, because in each case...AF, Bama, USC, turnovers on our part prevented us from busting the game wide open.

but the trump card for me has been the fact that they have made plays to win those games each and every time. Which does build confidence, cause you never feel like you're ever out of a game...even when you're down 24-7 at UGA.

This team has weaknesses. tHE defense has been all over the board, from VERY good, to very bad and all points in between. the running game has had flashes of being good, but has not been anywhere near consistent enough to be considered a real threat for this offense to use.

Special teams have had their ups and downs as well.

combine all that with the fact they have been winning, and there is plenty of reason to consider the possibility of winning out and having an 11 win season. at this point, it's a realistic finish. And much more realistic than it was before the season started.

bottom line, plenty of reason to be excited. but i think most everyone knows the limitations of this team, and as was stated in another thread...most people expect a split of the next two games. And most would also admit that we could very well lose the next two....

but as this season has shown....it ain't over til it's over.

Go Vols!

Oh and before someone points out J Russells passing efficiency I don't buy it. He is not throwing for much more than a 5 yard slant most of the time. His % is high because the type of passes they call.

I am worried about the talent. I know bad teams are bad teams, but they beat those bad teams surpringly easy. I know you are probably saying this means nothing becaues they choke when they play good teams.

I put that on Les Miles, who doesn't seem to have any motivational ability. We took care of the motivation thing last year.

I think when LSU is on, they may be the best team in the country.

I can't lie, until they come out and play like it, it is speculation, but that team has the talent to be great.

agree...we will have a chance to win any game we play if we hold on to the ball and/or win the turnover battle in a given game.

LSU's D is very good though....it'll be interesting to see how they do...cause looking at their schedule, this TN team will be the best offensive team they've played all year.

which is better? we'll find out.

Also, Russell is by far the softest big QB I can remember in a long, long time. He rattles easier than Leak!

According to VolBeef, Tennessee would be a prohibative favorite against the Chicago Bears, Indianapolis Colts, and the entire Chinese Army.

Nope, we could very easily lose to LSU and Arky. But what I posted is true. Russell is soft and is not a very good QB, they have a running game that rivals ours but they have a very good D.

Although anything can happen in college ball. I have a hard time seeing the Vols folding. We are not the same team as last year, even though LSU game is the only big one we managed to win. This teams still remembers 5-6.

The big diff is that unlike you I don't see the dark cloud with every silver lining.

You know I also didn't get beat up regularly growingup either. :)

I think LSU's talent is being slightly over hyped. Yes, they are talented. But one gets the impression that they are Miami 2001 or something.

Their offense is not talented as the D. And their D is not any more talented than FL's.

Yes, talent is there. But it's not like we have no chance if LSU decides to try.

With that said, I feel a loss coming on.

I've been trolling tigerdroppings a little, and not too surprisingly, they're just as apprehensive as we are. This is a strange one...kind of gives one the feeling that, good or bad, nothing will be a surprise.

ROFL ROFL ROFL

Ainge's array of routes haven't been much more advanced, to be honest. They've gotten more in depth lately, but for the 1st half of the season, Cut wasn't doing much of anything more than 7 yard hitches.

If you really wanted to find a huge hole for LSU, it's been there absolutely terrible execution EVERYWHERE against any decent team they've played. We may not be as good as Auburn or Florida (who knows), but we won't need to be if LSU plays like they have.

I don't think we "get exposed", however EA's ankle injury scares the crap out of me. I think he is a huge key to our offensive performance. I'm afraid if he is limited on can't play at all were probably in serious trouble. Crompton may be a good Qb, but LSU is no game to cut his football teeth on.

LSU has had two big games so far and lost both b/c of mental mistakes.

I think being at home will help, but if Erik isnt 100% i dont think we get it done.

LSU's d against our lame rush attack will lead to our 2nd and final loss of the season.

Citrus bowl here we come.

Better than the toilet bowl, right??

I think Florida did all of the exposing. I don't need to mention the total rushing yards from that game.

Can't really say the LSU defense is better than Florida's, and the Vols had a lot of success passing on the Gators. I think Ainge was 18-33 for 230 or so yards. If he's healthy enough and can better those numbers by just a little bit, I like the Vols' chances.
