Does the SEC still get 4 teams in the playoffs?

The SEC now has only 3 left with 2 or fewer losses.

Its entirely possible that Texas loses to TAMU and gets a 2nd loss or that Georgia loses to Texas in the SECCG and picks up it's 3rd loss.

So the question then is exactly how many SEC teams will they invite into the playoffs?

Will it just be Texas, Georgia and Tennessee? What if Georgia loses a 3rd? Does the SEC only get 2 teams?

I mean what if Georgia gets a 3rd loss AND Tennessee loses to Vandy? Then you just have Texas left with less than 3 losses

What say you?

If UGA loses to Ga Tech then Texas in their rematch.
And South Carolina beats Clemson.
I think you could see Tennessee, Texas, and then South Carolina in the playoffs.

Beat Vandy and we’re in hosting an opponent.
The SEC has completely eaten itself up this year.

If you're 10-2 regular season in the B1G or SEC, you're probably in. A team that goes 9-3 shouldn't be in the playoffs.

Don't lose to Vandy.

And Georgia too !! Funny how Satan left conveniently after NIL and no one investigates this university, but hunt down UT got McDonalds Money when I clearly remember seeing a video of Alabama player's cars, lots being over 40k cars.

This is where Sankey steps in and slips the officials a Benjamin to have ATM beat Texas and them UGA beat Texas in SECCG so Bama can be the SEC 3 loss team to get in.

I believe any SEC team that finishes at 10-2 or better is in. A conference champion with more than 2 losses would be in.

If teams win the games they should, which didn't happen this week, those three teams would be Texas, Georgia and Tennessee. The more difficult situation would be where Texas and Georgia play in the championship and Texas wins. Georgia would have a third loss. That might imply only 2 SEC teams in the mix - though I could see Georgia sliding in at the 12th team selected.

Tennessee will be out if they lose to Vandy so that is a must win.

This is where I'm at. Beat Vandy, and have whatever needs to happen for us to get the best possible seeding. Hopefully hosting a home playoff game.

I couldn't care less about how the rest of the SEC does.

There is almost no scenario where SC makes the playoffs, and we are not hosting without help.

There's no way Georgia would be out of the playoffs if they beat Georgia Tech and lose to Texas or Texas A&M. If you take Georgia out of the playoffs, you would have to take Tennessee out too because Georgia beat Tennessee. They're not gonna punish Georgia and have Tennessee ranked ahead of Georgia simply because Georgia lost in the SEC Championship Game.

Nope. I'm still interested to see how they value conference champion losers, especially the ACC. I thought for the longest it was a one loss bid league and the championship game was a winner take all. Now with so many SEC teams going down, it's going to be controversial. If Miami wins, all three teams (smu, Miami, and clemson) are all close in the rankings. Does Clemson jump the loser? Does both Miami and smu guarantee a spot? Or do you let a 3 loss Alabama sneak in there? It's gonna be interesting

I don't know who it is, but still think SEC gets 4 teams in...when top 8 or so conference teams would legitimately be favored in playoffs vs many of the teams pegged for the playoffs, I just think SEC office flexes it's muscles, mild threats, or maybe not so mild threats about future of SEC in NCAA. There has to be more emphasis on strength of schedule.

It's very possible.

Frankly, Alabama's resume with 3 losses is stronger than Miami, Boise State, SMU, and Indiana.

Of course, there's a very clear anti-SEC bias with most of the other leagues and we have to pretend to that 1 loss against the #105th best schedule is better than 3 losses against a top 10 schedule, so we still might not. But all the quant polls still have a lot of 3 loss SEC teams in the top 10 because the SoS is so much higher.

Yep, none of the non-sec playoff contenders (Ariz St, SMU, IU, Boise, MIami, ND) want to play a motivated 3 loss SEC team. The final four teams probably will see three SEC teams, unless we're set up to cannibalize ourselves in the playoffs.
