Does this change the East picture?

It depends on if you're talking about the PG as a position, or just players who played in the PG position. Evans isn't a true PG, IMO. Each player can do something the others can't, but all in all I agree Wall is not the best player at the point position that Calipari has coached.

Isn't Evans a SG in the NBA?

I was referencing players who played PG under Calipari, FWIW.

Yeah, thats what I'm talking about is players playing PG under Cal. Rose, Evans, and Wall all three played point guard. I was basically questioning (not you... but in general) whether the question at hand is best "point guard" or best player that "played" PG. Because there is a difference, IMO.

I think Wall is #3 out of that group if its judged by best player.

Agreed. Judging on the best player to "play" PG between the other two, Rose has the upper hand on Evans, IMO.

HFan, would you trade the whole signing class this year for Wall/ Cousins to be Sophomores? (Not forever, just as the product you put on the court this year. Obviously you couldnt/wouldnt forfeit a whole grad class.)

Anyone who thinks Wall is better than Rose or Evans is straight up dumb.

I watched Magic Johnson say it on TV with my own eyeballs. Even in your megalomaniacal mind, I hope you don't think you know more about basketball than Magic Johnson...

You mean the Magic Johnson whose personnel evaluations as a coach the Lakers were so bad the franchise relegated him to being essentially a mascot? When Wall turns out to be a shadow of the pro that Rose and Evans are, that simply means I'll have to call you and Johnson both idiots.

You're right. Great players are always brilliant in their personnel evaluations. That explains Michael Jordan trading Rip Hamilton and drafting Kwame Brown #1 and all those titles Elgin Baylor won with the Clippers.

Yeah that worked out great. He might have a shot with Charlotte if he can convince Brown to stay a few more years though

On the other hand, Zeke has proven to be an absolute genius.

The Logo has certainly been the exception to the rule among great players in front office positions.

Really has, but there's little nuance to his evaluation. He's about loading up and hiring a great coach if he can.

I honestly think Barkley is better at it than Magic and friends.

If Magic was a decent talent evaluator, he would have been Zeke From Cabin Creek's successor with the Lakers.

Magic was a great player and floor leader, but he won't be asked to design rockets any time soon.

Agreed LOL. I was just throwin that out there. Did you ever answer my hypothetical Q. Trade Lamb,Knight,Jones, ect for Wall and Cousins? Strictly for this years product. Disregarding any carry over effects.

Thats hard to answer even hypothetically because that would barely leave us enough bodies to fill out a decent roster.

The starting line-up would resemble this:

Cousins
Harrellson
Miller
Dodson/liggins
Wall

With absolutely no depth, Wall and Cousins couldn't carry that team alone. So the answer is no, I would trade this whole recruiting class to keep those two players. Now, Hypothetically, Had Orton and Bledsoe stayed like it seemed they would in the beginning... then thats a different story.

This is why I hate hypothetical conversations.

He is a great point guard and will have a great NBA career, but it is a stretch to say he is the best player ever.
