Dogs of VolNation and other pets that are inferior to Dogs

I'll add my vote to the no bueno column. My vet says why even take the chance of a bone splintering or damaging the intestinal tract. Nylabones and milk bones only. Oh, and rawhide bones to make their day.

This.

I hold the pork rib bone (or whatever) for my dog for a minute or so. Let her tear some meat off and get a taste, but I'm too paranoid to just hand her a bone. Even a thick one, and she's a 15 lb dog

Do you need to know what breed they were and what the cause of death was? English Setter lived 16 years, died with a gunshot wound. German Shepherd lived 11 years, got hit by a car. They both ate all kinds of bones, including pond fish, frog, duck, chicken, possum, groundhog, field mice and some I don't even know.

Keep tennis balls away from them too, they like to try to fit more than one in their mouth at a time and it could dislocate their jaws.

Those are my dog's favorite toys, but I don't leave them in the floor for her.

But, like every other GSD, even though it's on the shelf where she can't get to it, it still is HERS!

I use a pic of Behr in the pool with 3 in his mouth as an avatar sometimes, he tried so hard to get the 4th many times but just couldn't. Probably had something to do with bones.

Yeah that's cool I just got my info from several veterinarians, what do they know.

Agreed. Because dogs don’t eat bones in the wild.

And some die in the wild from injuries to their digestive tract from things they ate... not to mention from mange, parvo, starvation and any number of other causes. The problem is, we're not talking about a random dog in the wild, we're talking about a member of the fam, a deeply loved loyal companion, deserving of every chance we can give them at a high quality life.

Anyway....
