They're saying the Memorandum of Understanding is just a year to year arrangement and the fact that there is no contract means there is no buyout.

I posted this in the other thread but it's relevant here as well.

If I'm not mistaken, Donovan has a window of time built into his contract at the end of each season where he can decide to leave with no (or reduced) buyout.

I believe that time period ends April 1.

Thats pretty much what they said. Though I have to believe that they will try to "pro-rate" it a bit. something like....

"Billy, since you did not sign the contract, the memorandum of understanding is a year to year arrangment. We will pay you such and such % for each year that you were here."


Im not saying they are required to do this, but maybe as a olive branch to avoid litigation or such things.

They're going to have to at least give BCG 2 million (a third of the buyout), or they'll be lucky to get Buzz Peterson to take the job.

This is a great example of the shaky hand pushing the panic button. They're not going to get Cal, and I seriously doubt they're going to get Donovan. They're going to get Travis Ford. And that hire will make a large percentage of the UK faithful happy, since he, oh my god, PLAYED AT UK, but I would think that the smarter elements of the fanbase would realize that Ford would be a terrible hire and revolt.

The percentage of the fan base a Travis Ford hiring will make happy is minescule.
