Dont call it a rebuild

Coach Caldwell in her post presser last night said this was not a rebuild year. She mentioned others we're saying wait till she gets her players in. She said these ARE her players. The seniors on the team elected to stay and play for her, so this is her team. Good for her..sounds a lot like Pat reincarnate.
Baseball and LV Basketball are the only programs I think can win a Natty in the near future.

She’s awesome. I love how mad she gets when it’s even suggested that anything short of winning is something to be excited about.

Lady Vols fans…we can love/like Kim for just being her. Everything she does doesn’t have to be compared to Pat. It’s unfair to Kim. We can and should always love and cherish Pat’s accomplishments and memory. Let Pat rest in peace and let Kim put her own stamp on the program.

Well said and thank you. Some idiot in another post used the word incarnate in comparing the two.

Pat's philosophy and system is radically different from Kim's
*Pat never 5 in 5 out'ed
*Pat worked the ref's, players, and opposing coaches with that beautiful "stare'
*Pat called timeouts to teach, restructure, and discipline
*Pat would lock a team out of their locker-room for such a 1st Qtr performance
*Pat subbed with purpose

I sat in that game in amazement at the subbing,,,there was one mass subbing that took place after 2 possessions,,,less than a minute!,

Kim's system is built on overwhelming your opponent and if you sub by schedule instead of by "the moment",,,you have no chance of extending a run except by chance.

Nope, Kim is a good coach, but young and inexperienced in this level of NCAA BB. And she is finding this out quickly.
Liberty gave the blueprint for scoring against this system.
Oklahoma gave the blueprint for beating the system.
Mulkey gave the blueprint for outthinking her.

Kim's got a long way to go before she can be truly compared with Pat Summitt

It IS absolutely a rebuild
In both system and roster

We never ran this type of system and we still have a few quarter horses running with the thoroughbreds

Another thing I like about Kim is her sideline manner. She travels the sideline instructing her team, coaching players as they come off the court when there was a mistake and best off all I like how she is unintimidated by the moment and is constantly is in the officials ears about some questionable call and all this with a cool, confident manner. Go CKC and the Lady Vols !

working refs with a cool, confident manner" is NOT effective. Pleading with a ref is not effective...They respect the coach that "works" them, not the coach that charms them.

Been coaching for 44 years and watching the game for 49,,,this has never changed,,,be it pro, ncaa, aau, rec,,,only in church ball

I agree. And, no matter how many horses she has, there will be elite teams skilled, well coached, and with enough horses of their own to counteract the press and frenetic pace. That said, I'm excited about LV's basketball for the first time in years. I think Coach Caldwell will do great things here and am looking forward to her growth as a young coach as well as to the success of the teams she puts on the floor.

We don't yet know for sure WHAT Kim's true sideline nature is because she has been pregnant the entire season and it is important she not let herself get too worked up.

What we're seeing from her now may turn out to be what we see much later, but then she could eventually be different. I suppose we could go try to find some Marshall games and see how she was on the sidelines there, but even that may not be how she'll end up on the sidelines at Tennessee. I can imagine the position and the pressures she has now could possibly change her, but then maybe they haven't changed her at all. Only time will tell.

Not a total rebuild, but she needs some more ammunition to beat most of the top ten. I think we can beat some of them if we put a forty minute game together. 25 minutes won't do it. Were still at a talent deficit, but I not counting us out in any of the games we have left. We just have to play the game for forty not 30 or 25.

Softballs best chance was last year
Yeah, that's what I'm afraid of. Oklahoma has been so successful for so long now that winning the number of recruiting battles against them it would take to overcome them would be a hard row to hoe. But I like to remind myself sometimes that while it may seem highly improbable, nothing is impossible. I mean, if Pickens gets that fastball up to 80 mph, can maintain control and, most importantly, stay strong and healthy, who knows?

I don’t know any humans who “respect” someone who “works” them. More likely to look for the opportunity to T them up.

Her main point was that she wants to win now and with this team, who are her players. I like the statement too but any competent coach is going to say that. It is not about sounding like Pat but sounding like a coach who believes in her team.

What would be the alternative-- "yep, once I get rid of all these dead weight players, then I can have a decent squad!"

CKC is grappling with the fact that two winnable games against top ranked opponents slipped away. Plus, that they showed they can compete but, when it push comes to shove it is all about the winning and those games are now in the lost column.

This team can obviously win now if they clean up some silly game mistakes (on both the coaching and player sides).

There were going to be some bumps in the road and we had some warning signs in the 13-0 start. Make some adjustments, it is all still in front of them this season.
