I know it has been discussed, but the new TN state law is now in effect that requires all in-person voters to have state or federally issued photo ID in order to vote.

With early voting starting in 3 weeks, I figured it merited reminding.

also remember to bring your ID if you choose to drive to the polling place or purchase alcohol or tobacco on that day

As previously stated, the race angle is a byproduct of this in the sense that the purpose is to reduce D votes and the mechanism affects minorities disproportionately.

It is not racial per se. It has that effect.

Purpose was to reduce the number of illegal votes. If the Democrats are in a position that they can't win without the help of illegal voters and voters who are too lazy to go get a free ID, then I would say their party is in trouble. All the partisan objections that the Dems have made to this law is a true indictment to the state of their party, imo.

then feel free to explain the difficulty (without pulling up the story of the 90yo woman with no birth cert)

without an ID they can't cash a check, buy alcohol, buy tobacco, collect any benefits, etc. Seems this law does more to help them in their daily lives than it does to hurt them
