True story, getting my license in va the dmv lady told me my birth cirtificate was unofficial. Good times!

Same thing I was told when I registered my new car in Iowa. I have an IL license, wanted to get an IA license. I could register my vehicle in IA easily, but couldn't switch licenses. So I have an IL license with my parents' address on it still, but have an IA living address. So I have to vote in IL still. :loco:

As previously stated, the race angle is a byproduct of this in the sense that the purpose is to reduce D votes and the mechanism affects minorities disproportionately.

It is not racial per se. It has that effect.

Belive it or not LG the racist state of Tennessee has given out many DLs to hispanics, asians, and even blacks (in spite of our KKK roots).

Interestingly, the people in Afghanistan had no issue with this. In fact, they lined up as early as 3am to register to vote and get their voter ID. In some villages some of the people went back through the line several times as these were the first photos they ever had and wanted to give some away to their family. But it is an issue in the U.S.
