I have seen several comments on how Gruden spent some time with Chip from Oregon to see how the spread... up tempo offense translates to the college level.

Maybe it was more of a study to see how to defend... I tend to be more old school for sec with Defense top priority and a balanced O attack... but I recognize with certain type athletes this can be debunked. Cam with Auburn as an example...

My question is simple- what do you think Gruden would want to run as an Offense and be successful recruiting?

Gruden could bring back the single wing for all I care as long as we get him and he brings the results that most here believe he would.

Who cares if he runs a pro style offense or not?

If the rumors of Gruden and Chad Morris are true, then it seems like he is thinking about a spread. Or at least have some spread concepts. Morris and Gus Malzhan (sp?) are from the same coaching tree. They run the spread a little different then say Oregon does.

Do not get me wrong... I was just curious what folks thought he would run?

What was his style in the nfl?? I thought it was a traditional pro style.

He basically ran the West Coast Offense in the NFL. Which it can be really challenging to get a firm grasp of. But if he comes to UT, I'm sure he will make the proper adjustments.

Let Gruden run whatever the f*** he wants, he knows more about scheme than everyone on this board combined. He knows what he's doing.

Gruden learned the West Coast offense under Bill Walsh..I'm sure his interest in Chip Kelly's offense is purely in the interest of learning how to be "multiple" offensively--if he and the Chad Morris stuff is true I would sh** a brick because the potential for good things offensively would be fun to speculate on.

Once again... not trying to define him to a style but what are your guesses as to what he would change (if any) in our O approach.

To be clear I like him and I hope we get him. I'm just trying to open dialog on what we think he would do with our current roster and future recruits.

That would fit our personale much better than the Oregon spread IMO

I personally don't care what he runs if its Gruden making the calls. If he wants to move us away from the traditional slow, immobile pocket passer, then I'm all for it. I trust his judgment.

Gruden never coached under Walsh.

I can see spread concepts being tough to defend. I have also heard how Peterman is fairly quick and fast with a good arm...

Gruden was getting an up close look at how it runs so he is can have the Tennesse defense stop it next season when we play Oregon.
