Don't Make Barry Angry, You Won't Like Him When He's Angry.

Actually, if I had my way, Barry would hit 756, round the bases, stop on top of home plate, remove a picture of Bitter Hank from his pocket, then rip it up a la Sinead O'Connor with the picture of the Pope on SNL. That would be awesome.
A Selig pic is more likely. If Bonds wants to garner some support outside SF, bashing on Selig would likely help him. Commish is one of the few men in baseball more universally villified than Bonds

I mean the whole chase -- Rodriguez is not exactly a universally liked player right now, so it will be interesting to see if he suddenly becomes a hero when he ticks over 700. Will Bonds still be so disliked then that everyone starts rooting for Rodriguez to break his record? Or will most fans treat Rodriguez then like they are Bonds now?
I believe the differing reasons that Bonds and Rodriguez are disliked will have something to do with it.

Am I the only one who can see Barry hitting 756, rounding the bases, continuing right on through the dugout, out the clubhouse door, and calling it a career?

That is exactly what I expect to happen. He has been planning this for a long time. It will be the perfect ending to the movie about his career. He runs through the stadium, hails a cab, and we never hear from Barry again.

The Incredible Hulk theme to the title of this thread is ironic because I think Barry Bonds and Lou Ferrigno may have taken some of the same stuff.

As long as Charlie Hustle is inducted into the B.H.of F. ahead of Bonds, I don't care what Bonds does. However both would probably have an asterisk by their name.

How about he hits #755, tying Aaron, then walks in the clubhouse and retires. I see that happening more so than breaking it then saying bye-bye.

Stay classy, HatVol.

The only way to see Hank Aaron as a bitter old man is if you want to see him as a bitter old man. I don't think he's really even said anything other than he's not going to chase Barry Bonds all over the country waiting for him to hit #756 every night.

Roids or not he is an amazing hitter. You could be as big as Shaq but if you cant hit the ball all that power is useless.

I considered Aaron a bitter old stooge long before Barry Bonds hit his 500th home run. It's not a new opinion on my part.

I'll give you this much, the ballyhoo surrounding Barry Bonds compared to the ballyhoo surrounding Mark McGwire's homerun chase is minuscule.

He's not going to give the clueless public that pleasure. He's going to break the record, then rub everyone's nose in it.

Well then I'm going to have to pull a DeNiro on him in the movie The Fan and and take him out.

Braves go to SF next week. I hope to see somebody put Barry in the dirt in his first AB just to make a point and then have Barry get the record later in the game.
