Very disappointing, yes. UF's defense just didn't let us get anything. When we could beat it, we struggled to hit shots. Our defense just couldn't keep up. Even when we were getting some hands in shooters' faces, they made some tough shots. We know we could have played better, but UF was throwing the book at us today, and that never makes it any easier.

I know this is a lot to ask for some posters, but try to consider the fact that we played on the road against a top-10 team. We weren't supposed to win this game, but it's very disheartening to see UF tear it open in the 2nd half. Could we have played better? Definitely. Did we lose because of effort? I don't think so. We needed some adjustments at the half, and they just didn't work. It's not that surprising a veteran and champion coach got the best of Martin. Still, a disappointing way to lose. You can't pull out many positives from a blowout.

Plain and simple, this game is not a season-killer. I know many will disagree, but I'm sorry, it's just not true. We have our back against the wall right now and our REAL bad losses (UTEP, NCSU, TAMU) have dug the hole that we're in. We don't have much room for error to ensure an at-large bid, but make no mistake, this loss has virtually no effect on our chances. This is a textbook low-risk game - lots to gain in the event of a win, little to lose in the event of a loss. If we can take care of business, we won't be on pins and needles come Selection Sunday. Obviously, that's not a given, but it's what I'm hoping for.

You're welcome to think or say anything you like about the situation, but take it from me, it's a lot more fun to cheer on the Vols and hope for the best IMO. I don't care how bad we are, as long as our coach and team doesn't blatantly give up, they deserve support from the fans. You don't have to agree, but I encourage you guys to make the best of it and not let it ruin your life.

AMNESIA, PEOPLE!! On to Ole Miss.:hi:

GO VOLS!!!!

This team gave up today. There are zero positives after this loss. C'mon Chris, stop farting rainbows and own it. This is a seriously flawed team lead by a coach who is in over his head. It's pretty damn simple. Even if we make the tourney, we'll be lucky to win 1 game. Today the team served up a sh*t sandwich that fans were forced to eat. I'm tired of Martin serving them up. This team is not getting better and that's on the coaching staff. Period.

I will agree it is just one loss. However, if the team folds from here on out I think we just need to look at this game as the turning point. This game ranks up there with any of Dooley's worst coaching performances.

I think Martin has quite a few worse performances than this one. But yes, it's very disheartening. Definitely did not want a blowout.

Appreciate the optimism, but facts are facts. We played a good team that had a quick turnaround and found a way to look like we were clueless. Did I expect a win...nope. Did I expect to compete, yes (although from watching this year, I shouln't have).

From what I saw, we walked into the building thinking we would lose...and played accordingly.

If we think we'll make the tournament this year...we're kidding ourselves. We may make one of Cuonzo's patented win streaks at the end of the year, but we have already shown what kind of team we are...and unless the selection committee is blind...they've noticed.

Unless we win the SEC tournament...it's NIT time again. Then watch out for a low seed nobody team to come into TBA and shoot lights out.

hahahahahha

please

if UT looked well coached with a good gameplan and lost, thats ok.

but they looked uncoached with no idea how to stop or attack UF.

so you are ok with the future of UT under the current staff.

lol

Good lord. 7 posts in, and someone says "excuses." Where did I excuse anything? I said this game is not a season killer. I DID NOT say it's ok to lose it, I said it was objectively expected. No one can excuse a blowout, but you can acknowledge that they we played a superior team.

I expected a closer loss, but what this game really shows is the wide chasm between 2nd and 3rd SEC.
Going to be a dog fight for 3rd place.
Hope we're in it. Right now, I'm not too sure.
Speaking realistically, not hypothetically.

It is what it is, but CCM no longer deserves the benefit of the doubt from those like myself who have kind of been holdouts on him. This was the straw the broke the camel's back.

If he has had a few worse performances than this one, then he shouldn't be allowed to coach big time basketball again. With the roster we have, we should not lose to anyone in the SEC by 30 points and barely break 40.

CM and these coaches just don't know how to coach offensive basketball. Period. You see a basic play like the pick and roll, and you see a team like Florida run it on us several times in a row without stopping it, getting easy shot after easy shot.
We cannot run it properly one freaking time to get somebody an open lane or look. Not once. That's unbelievably terrible and it's the constant. This game just showed what happens when you rely on McRae to bail your ass out for 3 years just to make it to the NIT.

The problem is that we're not debating good vs great. It's more like mediocrity vs "we suck".

I didn't expect to win this game per se, but there's no reason we couldn't come out of there with a single digit loss. Just look at the stats for the game dude, it's truly mind-blowing

Come on Vol fans, face the hard truth! I have been accused of being a sunshine pumper but this team does not deserve to go to ANY TOURNAMENT at the end of the year. The blame starts and stops at the coach, Martin will never have success at Tennessee. This loss was really embarrassing and when you factor in the team simply quit! It's time for the fans to send Hart a message, Martin has to go!

All this loss ensures is that Cuonzo Martin has not made this roster any better in the past three seasons.

Yeah, we didn't put forth a team effort today. UF's defense had a hand in that, but we performed individually (relying on McRae and Stokes) instead of as a unit.

This was my Mizzou game for Dooley. No reason we should have lost that game. No reason to get beat by 30.
