Dont see us doing much in post season if middle of order doesnt get going.

How so? I said if our middle 9f the lineup bats get going then we have a great shot to make Omaha. Sorry that upsets you and some others.

It was incredible what we were able to do this weekend going 1-2 against a superior team at pretty much every position.
I prefer them enduring a slump now rather than the end of the season

Honestly I’d keep more of an eye on Tidwell than the middle of the order. He’s the key to any run to Omaha and there appears to me a reason to be at least paying attention to see if he’s hit the wall

A lot of truth here. Once you start regionals, if you HAVE to win the first two games because of pitching depth, that puts a lot of pressure on everyone.

When Connell came on in the 4th, I had a sinking feeling, that’s not his jam so to speak.
I feel like we’ve asked a lot of Blade and for the most part he’s delivered but on Sunday he may not have had his best stuff, maybe the pressure or as Bruin stated, he might be hitting the freshman wall. It’s a concern, not just him, the depth in general.

And I think the halfway point of the SEC is fair time to again bring up the hitting. I put up the stats leading into the Bama game, those issues still remain. It’s great to be second only to Arkansas in walks, and I appreciate the AB’s that result in the free passes, home runs aside this past weekend, we didn’t get many hits, line drives, hot grounders, etc...We’ve been able to manage but against the better teams, I fear it’s an issue.

The good news is this...We are gonna face some good pitching going forward but not like we saw last weekend. JMO.

GBO!!!

Really good summary here.

We seem to look at alot of 3rd strikes and I'm sure the game has changed since I played, but we were always taught with 2 strikes to guard the plate and at least put the ball in play and force them to make a play.

We don't seem to have the pure hitters that Vandy has, then again who does.

Absolute phenomal job what Vitell9 has done with subpar hitting and the ace of the pitching staff gone for the year.

Also, jmo but last years Vols team was almost as good as this years Vandy team.

Arizona, Arkansas, Louisville, Miss St, Notre Dame, Tennessee, Texas, Vanderbilt are his eight to make it to Omaha.

The only one I take issue with is Texas, I like TCU a little better right now, and their schedule going forward a little better, but that’s a toss up. I am not sold yet that Pitt isn’t a possibility either.

I’m picking OSU to take the series from TX this weekend. Proud program that got embarrassed by TCU last weekend.

Offense has always been the issue with this team BUT it’s shown a huge ability to Win 1 run games. If that continues this team could make it to Omaha.

And we know Gilbert and Beck are capable. Seems like it should be a matter of time before they get it going. Maybe they get hot for the postseason.
