Don't tell Jimmy your secrets

I can't help but wonder what his motives were for doing this.

Can someone just tie Jimmy up and take him and his family to some island and let them live out the rest of their lives there? What an idiot

Why exactly is this an issue?

It's only an issue because those numbers are not known publicly and if he knows them, he probably knows them through access to intelligence he has as a former President. It is highly unlikely that such information is not classified. Thus, he likely divulged classified information - which is generally not cool.

That is the only potential problem I could see.

Yea, just that minor issue. People love keeping things TOP SECRET just so someone can nonchalantly tell the whole world what you prefer not to tell the whole world.

So let's say China never signed the NNPT and wouldn't divulge their nuclear capabilities, how would you feel about that?

It balances your equally outstanding output.

I'm pissy today, so I am not going to get in a spat, but you know full well what I was saying and twisted it. So let me clarify, if he revealed classified information it is a problem, and he should be dealt with accordingly. So if and when it comes out that he revealed classified info, I'll change my tune.

From the article, people had been speculating since the 1980s that Israel had between 100 and 200 weapons. And Olmert and Gates declared Israel a nuclear state two years ago:

"However, Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert included Israel among a list of nuclear states in comments in December 2006, a week after US Defence Secretary Robert Gates used a similar form of words during a Senate hearing."

Seems Carter's comment should have very little bearing on anything.

Probably not a big deal but it moves the information from speculative to confirmatory.

I can see why the Israeli's would be pissed about this whether or not it's a big deal or not - you just don't expect someone in Carter's position to reveal this type of info.
