People lets be intellectually honest here. If we as Americans had been persecuted as the jews have, not to mention most of the countries in your region dedicating themselves to your destruction you would not want to get rid of or put restrictions on any weapon you may be able to use as a threat or a means to inflict great loss on those who would do you in. I understand completely their position on the matter.

How do Carter's comments have any bearing on what's in bold? Maybe I'm missing something.

The proliferation of nuclear weapons is and was nothing more than a political penis measuring contest. No one is ever going to use them, and if they do, then we won't be around long enough to care. So what's the point?

Are you saying what is the point of having them? Well if you get into a penis measuring contest with someone and then they find out you have no penis...well you are likely to get ****ed.

Well put. I just don't see many scenarios in which any nuclear weapons are launched on anyone without nuclear retaliation from somewhere.

If this was classified information, this is certainly a bigger deal than the Plame controversy. After all, Plame was no longer a field agent, plus she benefitted materially afterwards. Israel gains no benefit having the exact number of nukes in their arsenal being made public.

It does give Israel some leverage in dealing with those bent on her destruction. If America was to ever leave her side it would be the only chip left to use in dealing with her neighbors as far as talks and diplomacy goes. (My point is they are used every day without ever being fired)

If America was ever to leave Israel's side, then the world will have much bigger problems than Israel's diplomacy.

Very true but I was trying to frame it from Israel's point of view. Just stating that I totally understand their viewpoint considering their history as an ethnic group over the past 200 years and more.
