Don't tell me it's not about coaching.

Like AF Vol said, the rankings mean nothing. Its about how many recruits make it in and how many recruits stick around.

We lost most all of the high star guys that made those classes that highly ranked. A&M didn't lose most of their classes.

If we had hired Sumlin three years ago: The talk on here would be "I can't believe we hired some no-name from Houston" There would have been some racism and now that he has beaten AL we're acting like "we knew it all along". BULL! You had no idea he was going to turn out to be the darling of the SEC.

RACISM??? That right there is the BULL-----sir.

Manziel is a scrappy kid that was successful in 4a TX Hill Country football. He was committed to Oregon and would have fit thier style and caused havoc on anyone he played.

Seriously y'all need to understand that sumlin isn't a program builder but takes over the work others do. Lucked out with being left Keenum at Houston and able to get Manziel to stay close to home.

Y'all do realize that the Aggies scored 20 pts in the first and 9 in the last 3 qtrs., right? once the coaches and players got use to Manziel they controlled him. The O messed up at the end or Bama would have one.

Anyone blowing off TX players just as regular 3*s don't understand the high number of talent in the state of TX. Some kids just don't get regonized cause there are so many.

No way to know what sumlin would have done 3yrs ago. Sherman left the Aggies in way better position than Kiffin/hammy/fulmer did by a ton.

Move on...it's getting pathetic. People were saying the same about Hoke at Mich last yr. Wait for Manziel to get banged up like Robinson (even Shaw at USCjr) and see where things are at. Top SEC programs will have a spring to adjust to him and next yr won't be the same. Fl had some early trouble with him and still won without having tape on how they will play this yr.

negative, he had a winning record at Houston. Dooley had a losing record at La Tech. There's a difference.

I went back and looked at Texas A&M's recruiting rankings since 2009 compared to ours. This was taken from Rivals.com.
2012 UT-17th A&M-15th
2011 UT-13th A&M-27th
2010 UT-9th A&M -17th
2009 UT-10th A&M-22nd

Kevin Sumlin took a team with average talent into Tuscaloosa, Al. and won. With our talent, we should expect much better results.

I won't.

It's about coaching.

You want something even spicier than that just go look at Petrino's recruiting class ranks and what he was able to do with them.

Manziel is a freshman, Sumlin is probably looingk at a possible NC run next year or the year after

A & M will never escape the SEC undefeated. No way.

and Manziel is a 3 star, short, jewish kid.

VN would have gone into full meltdown if UT would have signed him. No doubt.

Is this a joke? We sign 3-stars all the time. There's a 3-star qb committed to us right now (Riley Ferguson).

And the same people complain about 3 stars all the time.

Complaining? Yes. Full meltdown? Nowhere near it. There's quite a difference between "complaining" and "a full meltdown". Kind of like the difference between a drizzle and a hurricane.

It's ALL about coaching

Yeah, because players always learn everything really fast no matter how complicated the system is and players never make mistakes in the heat of a game and players are always perfect 100% of the time, LOL!

50 years of watching or playing football and NEVER even 1 time have I seen a coach on the field making plays.

These are 17 to 21 year old kids and people on here expect them to be perfect all the time, LOL!

I guess people on here will say the Rams suck because Jeff Fisher can't coach, LMAO!

Jon Gruden was FIRED from Tampa Bay because he sucks and knows absolutely nothing at all about football, LOL.

Jack Del Rio sucks and knows nothing about coaching football.

It's always the coaches but the players that have to learn the systems and then go on the field and actually play the games aren't ever the problems, LOL!

If Summlin, Shannon, MuschUmp, Smart or most any other coach had walked in the door at the same time CDD took over I seriously doubt they would have done lots better with the player roster we had.

Delusion and over expectations runs rampant here on VN unfortunately.

VFL...GBO!!!

The last two years were questionable due the mess Dooley walked into. This year however, proves he's just not a very good coach. There's enough talent on the team this year for him to have some quality wins. Instead, we are 4-6. The man has done some good things but winning is not one of them. He should not be a head coach and might never be again. If it wasn't for Hamilton being such a bonehead, Dooley would still be at La. Tech. However, he could have been fired by now, there as well.

A&M has much better than average talent my friend and recruiting polls are simply polls
