After you take the massive beating in this election my party will over reach it's bounds and push for legeslation that alot if not most of us do not support and we will be stuck with the same stagnant gov we are use to.
but atleast this Bush nightmare will be over.

Isn't the Bush presidency over regardless of the outcome of the election? That's how I learned it in Civics class

You mean nothing will change? I have faith in the democrats in the event of a November win. We could very well end up as close to a populist government as we have ever had

Yeah, gas will go to $10 a gallon since it's already at $4.00 under the Democratic Congress.

If Obama wins, all will be right with the world, and everyone will hold hands and sing.... Bush is the cause for everything bad in the world, after all.

It's not over with, the Dems are practically gift wrapping this for McCain and you know it. There will be protests outside the conveniton... I'm not saying McCain will win hands down, but you can't say Obama has got it wrapped up with everything going on.

I'm not saying the Democrats have it wrapped up. I do think it is funny that the Republicans have their weakest candidate in probably 3 decades and they think it will be a cakewalk. Yeah, that's right, I said it. John McCain is more worthless than Bob Dole

and vf, I am not saying you are acting like it's a cakewalk, for the record. It does seem to be a pretty popular sentiment right now though.

I don't think it will be a cakewalk... if McCain would quit angering the conservatives I may lean that way, but you have to admit, this isn't the best time to be a Dem either. The fact McCain can't even make his own party happy is what is keeoing this close.

Edit: Just saw your post, but I still agree with the McCain part.

how on earth any self sufficient American can root for a populist / socialist government is beyond me. This great nation was founded upon individualism, personal responsibility and hard freaking work. The only populist garbage we had then was joining together in arms to kick the teeth from the now socialist Brits.

Moreover, the idea of individual liberty will ultimately be destroyed by the idea that big gov't can tax the wealthy to fund the poor. Eventually, the poor recognize that dynamic and spend the rest of their lives voting for people promising to essentially steal more money for them. Sound like the makings of a long lasting solution. In fact, the only reason FDRs short sighted theft programs haven't destroyed us to date is the fact that said theft is so negative to the overall economy, that in between we have to elect someone to straighten out the disasters.

No one on the ballot is qualified enough to help get our nation's debt under control and help build our economy. That being said, the whole "Robin Hood" persona by our government is never going to end in our lifetime. It's going to take a President and Congress that cares about the country itself to piss a bunch of people off and tell them to get a job cause we aren't paying for you to lay on your fat asses anymore. Even if they didn't get rid of all welfare, getting the people that can work into the workforce will help out 100x over than what is currently being done.

BTW on your post.....
