Before yesterday, I think even the most hardened Grudinite felt we might still turn a corner sometime. Maybe the bamboo would suddenly spring to life. Maybe we would find Rommel.

But this Saturday was the absolute lowest of the low. It's one thing to seize defeat from the jaws of victory against Florida. It is another to completely throw a game away with a two TD lead against a formerly winless Mizzou. Dooley has simply taught this team how to lose.

I'm a Grudenite. If issues with Cheek have cooled Jon Gruden from coming to Tennessee - I honestly can only see "the nuclear options" being on the table - the return of Petrino or the return of Phil Fulmer.

And I really don't want to see Petrino in Orange. Personally, I'd make Phil the interim this very hour, but I know that will partly divide Vol fans as well. If Gruden is not coming, Hart had better have smoking hot plans B and C, but I think even those took a big hit on Saturday.

We've got to hunker down, VN. Winter is coming.

Yeah making the man responsible for the downturn of TN football the interim HC will show TN is serious ( about staying in the lower tier of league).

Mizzou wasn't winless just to say.

I say they start looking for a coach ASAP, before other programs start grabbing the good candidates. To much rests on the next coach being here quick - whether players stay, recruits committing/decommitting , etc.

Good morning Gramps. CPF is the reason for our dominance, our NC, and he should have NEVER been fired.

Should have been more specific - winless in SEC.

Of course, NOT ANYMORE!

And he is part of the reason we went so far down. If he should of never been fired he was doing about what Dooley is now. My problem with Fulmer is with all the talent he had we should of won alot more. Do not want Fulmer back or as AD. Maybe he takes the Kentucky job.

This post is so full of absolute lunacy that I don't even know where to begin. Homie, Gruden is not, was never, and never will ge the coach at UT, and it has nothing to do with Cheek. It has to do with the fact that he has no desire to coach in college, he is an NFL guy. Secondly, the notion of Fulmer coming in as an interim is laughable. Why on earth would he do that for 2 games, only to be told thanks and see ya in less than a month? Good grief, go back to bed.

Hart will probably fire Dooley this week and he will coach the remainder of the season. After being forced out, I don't see Coach Fulmer coming back. Petrino will probably get another shot somewhere-he wins too much not to. Hart has to open up the check book and offer Gruden. If he turns us down, he has to look at a Charlie Strong, Petrino, or maybe Butch Davis. Maybe Tuberville. We lost out on Sumlin-what a mistake that was!

Bringing Fulmer back would be a huge mistake, almost as big as bringing Dooley back another year. Even if you think he should have never been let go, I still believe by now he would have been let go anyway. The SEC passed him by.

I don`t see Fulmer coming back to Tennessee but I do think him coming back will happen before we see Petrino or Gruden coaching here.

Good morning VF.
I give credit to Majors for rebuilding the team. I give CPF credit for continuing to build the program and turning it into a national championship program.
I also give credit to CPF for letting the program slide front a dominating program to a mid level SEC team.

Dooley has taken it from a mid level SEC program to a bottom dweller.

It is now time to move in a different direction and hire someone that CAN and WILL coach and compete with the powerhoses of the SEC.

Strong got beat yesterday by twenty points by a terrible syracuse team. Petrino has little ethics, Davis cheated at Miami and UNC, and Tuberville made a donkey of himself on the sidelines yesterday. No thanks.

You're counting out Strong because he lost one game this year? Louisville...yes, Louisville is 9-1. That's pretty good the way I see it.

UT is never going to be satisfied if they choose by those standards.

The only living person that has done more for UT athletics than Phil Fulmer is Pat Summitt.

This statement I agree with.
CPF was a great coach for several years.
He then 1. lost his drive to succeed as a coach 2. became complacent 3. could not compete with better coaches in league.

I think.it is #2.

Phil did allow the program go from a national powerhouse to a program that was no longer relevant.

I think they need to open the check book and write a big enough check to get Chris Petersen here.
