Dooley's Post-NSD recruiting

I think Dooley has done a great job of filling needs for the 2010 class, but I'm not sure that it was really all that difficult of a task. We are one of the few teams in the NCAA that are in the position to load up after the signing period due to how few players we had on scholly. I am anxious to see how Dooley's first actual recruiting class turns out when he's competing for recruits against the likes of Saban, Miles, and Meyer. That will be the real test, not how many space fillers he manages to sign after Signing Day.
Coach Dooley WAS competing against all those you just mentioned when he salvaged a top 10 class this past NSD!

Agree that our shortage of scholarship players was a real factor, but it still shows the efforts of this staff. Also agree that 2011 NSD will tell the true tail. Still, got to give credit for salvaging 2010, and getting a couple of gems, Rogers and Hunter. I think how hard we play, not just won/loss record, will open some doors on those players with a wait and see attitude this season.

Great Post. I love the way Dooley & this staff is going about their buisness, no trash talking, no hyping recruits up. Just quietly doing work.

are "fillers" and will not take us to the promise land. As to Dooley saving the last class you must remember that the EE's were all Kiffin and couldn't have transferred out even if they wanted to. I will give him the credit for daRick, stone, Neal and Hunter. But to get excited about the current list is a wee bit exaggerated.

pretty sure that's just wrong. They didn't have to go to class and one player (Willis?) turned around on his way to campus

I dont see Demario Williams ever seeing the field with the stud wideouts we have, but like everyone has said Dooley has and will do great things, he doesn't neccesarily have the salesmenship of Kiff, but he has a humble and good personality which over time will show. Go Vols

No offense but almost all of these guys are "fillers" and will not take us to the promise land. To get excited about the current list is a wee bit exaggerated.

I never said these guys would take us to the promised land. I actually thought I was pretty clear that most of them will be valuable to us because they provide depth and not because they're going to be All-SEC starters for us.

He might not be All-SEC caliber, but at DT, we really are at the point of just needing bodies.

Won't beat out Jackson/Myles for a starting job, but we didn't have much depth at safety. Bringing in Brewer helps solve those depth issues.

He might not win a starting job this year, but our depth at DE (especially for next year) was not too good. Excellent pickup to solve depth problems and stick it to USC.

These guys aren't going to win us a national championship. That's a long-term project for Dooley.
Dooley's short-term goals are to have the team playing respectably and get us to a bowl game. Each of these guys helps make the team better and gets us closer to meeting our short-term goals.

I suppose your preference would be to let these 5 scholarships just go unused? Yeah, that's something to get excited about.

One of the things I find most impressive is that ALL of these recruits have said pretty much the same thing. They meet with the coaching staff and Coach Dooley and really liked them and what they had to say and how they wanted to build the program. Only time will tell, but I think that says a lot about the future of recruiting with this coaching staff

they were ours. Check it out I think you will find I am correct on this one. if they were here but had not enrolled it was a different story ala Willis.

on the college leve dooley and his staff are just better than kiffin and his staff. they seem to be more focused on team needs than glamor. no personalities to feed must make it easier.
