And this guy, for all his talent, got caught three times smoking something that, while not that harmful, is currently illegal, and then most recently broke into a woman's house to push her down some stairs (and might have beaten his current girlfriend).

This is not a player UT currently "needs" by any degree of that word.

Just making the statement we need players that can help us win. Not saying we should sign DGB, but if there are borderline players out there we should give them a shot. A team full of saints that doesn't win, while we all feel good about it, isn't very fun. Hell, urban Meyer absolutely owned us and he had girlfriend beaters and murderers on those teams.

How fun was it to watch us get beat year after year against him?

Also, it's JMO, but if a kid's only problem is smoking a little grass and it doesn't affect his school or play on the field, it can be overlooked. When it comes to violence and crimes with actual victims, action should be taken. Let's start winning.

Well, there is the how-hard-is-your-head factor when someone keeps getting caught and keeps lighting up. I don't really have a problem with people smoking weed, but if it's part of the deal that you cut in order to play college sports, or pro sports, or work in certain professions, then you have to wonder when someone doesn't seem to catch on.

There is a certain hypocrisy with the weed rule though, considering all coaches, AD's, and players also agree not to give or take benefits as part of the deal to play college sports. Yet, this still goes on and nobody gets hurt so everyone looks the other way.

I think the weed issue should be treated the same. State the official policy upfront and punish accordingly when caught, but just don't make it a priority to catch people. I don't think it does anybody any good to kick a kid off the team and take away his opportunity to get an education just because he smoked a little weed on the side. If nobody is getting hurt and it stays private, I don't see the issue.

I'm just using weed as an example, it could be any minor offense where school/sport is not affected and nobody is hurt.

Some of our fans will sell their souls, allow women to get beat, allow murders and excessive drugs on our team just for an SEC Championship.

That is some kind of stupid.
