I don't know if I'm more sad or mad. The excuse of a new defensive philosophy just doesn't hold water anymore. We should be seeing improvement, but it seems to get worse each week. The stats don't lie and there is no excuse ever for a Tennessee defense to give up over 700 yards to ANYBODY, much less Troy. TROY.
He said Troy threw it over 60 times and we didn't have ONE sack, only recorded 11 negative yards, and didn't have a turnover (probably not counting last play).
Pathetic. Completely pathetic.

This maybe a little off topic, but it still has something to do with the defense. I was listening to the Knoxville radio station this morning and they was talking about how bad the defense was, like we didn't already know, but they had a guy call and say that the offense needs to be more efficient to help the defense out.
Somebody please explain to me how your offense can score like they did yesterday and still need to be more efficient? I have thought about that since I heard that, and I can't think of any answers. Any help would be helpful. Thanks and GO VOLS
Doug Matthews is spot on with his analysis.
Heard his program on the zone this morning. He stated facts that have lead to problems starting in 1999 When Joe Johnson retired. Later the downfall continued when Dickey retired, control of the Thornton Center left the athletic dept., Phil Bredesen who possibly, somewhat appointed political cronies to Board of Trust, reporting changed from university president to chancellor, and the current involvement/power of the faculity senate.
Maybe all my reporting is not quite as factual, but if half of it true, we're in much deeper than just coaching.
As Dooley continues to talk about slowing the game down, but never does.Didn't hear it, but possibly could be that our offense scores too quickly and doesn't eat up enough clock thereby giving the D time to rest and regroup. However, to blame the offense for any problems related to the D is just grasping at straws IMO. Our offense has been good enough to win 6-7 games this year.
