In which case I am quite sure you would be very pleased to have him to explain how we monteize the national debt, in terms even you could understand since he claims to have much knowledge in that area!

why don't you just get to the point you're trying to make by repeatedly asking the same question?

Why don't you stuff it up your nose and call it sunshine pussycat??

Oh wait, perhaps you can expound on your own knowledge concerning the question since you claim to be some sort of expert on economics.

all I know about monetizing the debt is the US government is buying it's own paper, doesn't sound like a very good thing to me, and I doubt droski agrees with it either.

now, if you could stop being a condescending prick or acting like a petulant child to anybody who dares question you. LG is the resident pompous ass, I doubt he wants the competition.

Conversation I heard on the elevator yesterday when leaving work to go home -

----------

Lady 1 - So, has Stacy found something new yet?

Lady 2 - No, not yet. Well, she's really not looked that much. She said she really dreads dealing with the stress of finding something new.

L1 - She's a sharp girl, she should be able to land on her feet.

L2 - You're right, she is. She just doesn't want to deal with it. But her unemployment runs out in December I think so she's finally realizing she's got to find something.

L1 - She should be able to.

L2 - I know, it's just hard.

----------

I didn't know whether to scream or throw up.

What is it that the federal government could realistically be doing right now to improve the picture? If the government hired a bunch of people to build roads, the right would have a kiniption that its socialism.
Building roads and bridges would be needed infrastucture improvements, but once the bridge is built, what happens to the jobs? It is a temporary jobs program, at best. Personally, I would be less offended if the money was used for infrastructure improvements than I would be if it was used for extending unemployment benefits or some other handout or give away. At least the people would be working for their income.

not only that, but between Clinton and Bush (George W., not Monica Lewinsky) the US government allocated well over 1 trillion dollars in infrastructure improvement programs. The last appropriation hadn't even been fully exhausted before Obama came along and declared the nation's infrastructure as failing.

That IS NOT how the debt is monetized.

You might take your own advice.

actually, the government buying it's own bonds and securities (which is what I meant by "it's own paper") is one way the debt is monetized.

I would bet that this is the exception. I don't no anybody that is unemployed not busting their ass to find another job. There are always some people willing to take advantage of the system, But call me optimistic, I would bet not that many.

Call me realistic, but I bet it's a lot higher than you think.

How so???

What agency buys from what other agency??

What bonds, what securities??

You may be confusing unfunded liabilities with actual debt.
