She's not renewing her contract when it ends at the end of the year. She said she no longer has 1st amendment rights that protect her free speech.

Agree?

Los Angeles, California (CNN) -- Embattled radio talk show host Dr. Laura Schlessinger announced Tuesday she will not renew her contract that is up at the end of the year, telling CNN's "Larry King Live" she wants to "regain my First Amendment rights."
Schlessinger, 63, has been under fire for using the n-word repeatedly during an on-air conversation with a caller last week.
In announcing her decision "not to do radio anymore" after being in the business for more than 30 years, Schlessinger said, "I want to be able to say what's on my mind and in my heart and what I think is helpful and useful without somebody getting angry or some special-interest group deciding this is a time to silence a voice of dissent."

I don't get how a word can be offensive. Who made the rule which words are cursing and which words are not? And why the heck are we all obeying these stupid rules that we can't even explain. Why are we the only country that has African-Americans? I've never heard of an African-Mexican. Or an African-Canadian. Or an African-Britain. And I'm not "caucasian", I'm Appalacian-American.

Complaining about her 1st Amendment Rights not being protected is stupid. While I don't have a problem with the point she was making, she did pick the worse way to express it. That being said, she has the freedom granted by the 1st Amendment to say it, but everyone else also has their 1st Amendment rights to express their displeasure about it. Just because she has the freedom to say what she wants, doesn't mean I have to listen to her.

I agree, she was making a very good point but did it in a very bad way.

That was a piss poor way to prove a point. As with all words, context and intention is everything.

I've often wondered why do people call radio shows for advice? It would be like asking VN if you should breakup with your girlfriend cause she's a Bama fan.

I think it's candy ass to say she has a good point but went about it wrong. Your saying you agree with her but leave yourself an out.

I could care less what she said, but she is a complete idiot.

She did something extremely stupid and offensive and now wants to use the 1st amendment to protect herself.

why do you want to use it? What does it accomplish for anyone to use it?

It reminds me of a 4 year old kid crying because someone got something they wanted.

"He said it, why can't I"?

It's moronic. A racial slur being thrown around is okay because someone else says it?

I don't want to, where did I say I wanted to use it? I am talking about how every rapper and just about every comedian uses it and that's acceptable.

There is a double standard in some people being able to use that word and some can't.

Who cares, she should have simply pointed out those using it were morons instead of sinking into a moronic state herself.

Who cares, in what way does that effect you?

I didn't start the thread. I just think anyone should be able to say it if they want and then we as a society make our judgement on the people who use it.

I have never even listened to this woman, I don't know what her shows are about.

Isn't that exactly what has happened here?

Yes and I agree that's the correct way it should be handled. I never said I disagree with her being hammered for saying what she did. All I said is there is a double standard. I thought I was clear, but I guess not.
