Should Dr Laura end her radio show over her comments?

Yes and I agree that's the correct way it should be handled. I never said I disagree with her being hammered for saying what she did. All I said is there is a double standard. I thought I was clear, but I guess not.

Sure there is a double standard but you find those in all walks of life, this is nothing new and by no means a conspiracy.

Just like on this site. I get posts deleted by a certain mod that are not the least bit offensive but somehow they seem to have developed a personal issue. Ex. I posted "Rod Wilks" in a thread, it got deleted, only to see it posted by another later. Why was I deleted? Double standard. It's life.

LOL I didn't even know she is still on. I thought I agreed with most of her social stances at first but man she takes social conservative to a whole new level (and being annoying and shrill). Personally her 1st Amendment rights are completely fine. She's not going to Jail for using racial slurs, but I guarantee you ratings would tank because everyone else is using their 1st Amendment right to let her know how they feel about her stupidity.

I don't want to, where did I say I wanted to use it? I am talking about how every rapper and just about every comedian uses it and that's acceptable.

I agree with you on this. A word is either offensive or not, it shouldn't depend on who says it.

This isn't much different than Don Imus. They have the right to say what they want just as people have the right to tune them out or their employer has the right to find their replacement.

Except Don Imus is a guy and Dr. Laura is a chick. I'm sure someone out there will call this situation sexist.

Put her on the View and its a ratings bonanza! Probably have to move it to HBO prime-time but I'd watch her lunacy battle with that idiot Joy Behar.

What did she even say anyway? I can't even stand listening to her 1 minute commercials throughout the day, much less 3 hours of her.

Okay so I've thought all day of a way to explain this and here is the best I could come up with.

The reason the N-word isn't offensive to blacks is the same reason why its okay to talk trash about your family but its a fight if someone else talks bad about them.

For example, we all have a cousin, frat brother or childhood friend who might come up and say "what's up dumba**"" or some other offensive greeting. You don't take offense because you know his intentions aren't bad. I could come up two seconds later, say the same thing and you'd probably want to fight me. The difference is you don't know my intentions and the natural inclination is to assume a bad motive.

I'm not justifying its use but just trying to give a little insight into the thought process behind the double standard.

I don't think the double standard is about the n word. It's that a black person can call a white person whitey, white boy, cracker, etc. and its usually done claiming humor. But if a white guy says blacky, black boy, or other, its a lawsuit.

Very true. Either both should laugh about it or both should be able to file lawsuits.

I'll admit to laughing uncontrollably at Rock or Chappelle telling white jokes. But I'll never admit to laughing at Dice Clay. ;)

heard the audio from her interview with Larry King. She did indeed sound contrite and apologetic, however, once she started talking about "getting her 1st Amendment rights back" it went downhill. As slow as Larry has gotten, he picked right up on that.

The main problem I have with her now is that she is so arrogant about it. When she originally said it, she apologized the next day and said she should have handled it differently.

But when that did not immediately silence her critics, she starts whining about her First Amendment rights and threatening to quit.

First, if she was caught by surprise that using that word 11 times in her little rant drew some criticism, then she is officially dumber than retarded. Second, obviously she did not mean her apology to be anything other than a means to escape criticism and, when it didn't work right away, she now decides to stick to her guns.

She is a pathetic has been.

My personal favorite whitey slur is honky. In fact you can all refer to me as honky if you so desire. :good!:

It is a shame that people act in such a way that you can't admit to liking both. I would say there is an equal amount of racism from both sides.
