Dr Who

That's the obvious answer. I was wondering if they ever gave a logical reason within the context of the show.

For instance, DC comics has stated that Earth is so important because it is the center of the Multiverse and that is why it attracts alien invasions and such.

There are several theories out there as to why.

The first doctor was mean, rude, and being protective of his granddaughter Susan was his only redeeming quality. He took a human couple Ian and Barbara, afraid they were going to reveal the secret of his Tardis after they followed Susan home. At some point they ran into trouble and Barbara saved the day. He was humbled by this and grateful and so it began.

Another theory was that his mother was human and her name was Penelope Gate. Penelope fell in love with a Time Lord and they had a child, The Doctor.

Another theory is that he was fascinated with humans, how they were so resilient and evolved so quickly compared to other species. A monologue from an old Who episode:

Another theory was that he was exiled to Earth by the Time Lord without his Tardis for some time and he strengthened his bond with humans while being there. Him being exiled to earth did in fact happen.

Interesting.

Now... Why London?

Finished the first season and am now five episodes into S2. I enjoyed Eccleston's Doctor. It was sad to see him go but Tennets take is getting better with each episode. The writing got better as season one went on. So did the FX. You could tell they got a little budget boost as it went on. I'm solidly hooked now.

Its funny because there are to previews of the next episode at the end. Sometimes I think they look silly and don't have much excitement for the next one. Oddly enough those turn out to be some of my favorite ones.

The one I just finished, The Girl in the Fireplace, was probably my favorite to date but looked inceredibly silly in the preview.

You won't want to give up Tennant. You'll literally be crying when he dies and turns into Matt Smith.

I'm sure.

I know Rose eventually leaves too. She was kind of annoying at first but she's grown on me.

Make sure you watch the special "Christmas" episodes between seasons!

Netflix has Christmas Invasion as the first Ep of S2.

So when I say I'm 5 episodes in I guess I'm really just 4 eps in plus the Xmas special.

Finished season 2 last night. Dalek vs Cybermen was an interesting story. Seems like it should have lasted a little longer. Kinda sad to see how Rose's story line was wrapped up. Looking forward to season 3.

So Peter Capaldi's Doctor debuted last night and after the first few minutes I wasn't to sure about him. However by the end of episode he was the Doctor!!

Plus you can never go wrong with Madame Vastra, Jenny and Strax!!

Much like Cagle I wasn't too sure about the new regenerated Doctor. But the episode turned out in fashionable Doctor Who form.

Decent first episode. The jury is still out for me on Peter Capaldi though.

OK, I'm a bit behind and watched another couple episodes. The next in line is episode 5 for me. I can now say I officially approve of Peter Capaldi!

Episode 3 with Robin Hood was hilarious! It was really funny watching the two of them argue and make fun of each other. Episode 4 was dark but even more brilliant and the way they pieced the story line together was great. Awesome writing I must say.

I thought last night's episode was one of Capaldi's best so for. Man I still don't like Pink or what ever his name is. I thought the Matt Smith look a like teacher was a nice touch.

The Doctor's line to the girl wanting to ride in the TARDIS was good also. Something like "stick around I might soon have an opening".

Lol, I figured I was the only one that did a double take at that Matt Smith looking teacher. They seem to be holding onto that "dark side" of the doctor with Capaldi. I guess an homage to the old school Dr Who?

I'm nearing the end of Season 4. Just finished the episode with the Mars base. Probably one of the most emotional episodes I've seen. I'm looking forward to this potential change in direction of the Doctor's attitude.

I like these smaller stories more than the big bombastic battles with the Daleks. They have a truer sci-fi feel to them as opposed to the sci-adventure.

I didn't make the connection until tonight. Peter Capaldi's Doctor is very similar to Hugh Laurie's Dr. House. I can't say they're an exact match but they sure are close.

I have really enjoyed this season and I Love Capaldi as The Doctor. I can't wait til saturdays episode "Dark Water"
which is the first part of the two part season finale, because it looks really intense from the trailer and we get to find out who Missy is.

Yeah, that last episode was interesting. Since the beginning of the season they've played Missy off as the "God" of heaven as it were.

I'm sure there is far more to it than that though as this is Dr Who.
