Dribble, Dribble, No Passing To Teammates

They look confuse because they have to create. Holly hasn't done anything to improve this offense. They will continue to look this way when the game becomes a half-court game. Next season could be scary without Moore and Graves. Russell has been a major disappointment so far. She is slow, and she's to big to get pushed around so easily. If she had Isabelle Harrison's mindset and foot work with her size she would be an All-American.

We worry about recruiting 3 stars when we have a 6'6" 2 star pretending to be a 5 star. I just wonder what the coaches think when they review Russell's game videos? Isn't Dean the post coaches? From what I see with Russell, if Dean is making $250,000 a year he is overpaid $249,999.:focus:

He is going to be making easy money next year with just one true low post player.

She looked way better in High School, USA Basketball and AAU Basketball. She needs to hit the weight room hard and she needs a coach! I heard that Harrison worked with her brother and boyfriend, who's in the NBA now, is the reason she drastically improved. Maybe Russell can get some tips from Harrison.

No, we don't have a post coach!

Holly's not going to suddenly become a good HC. What you see from Holly is what you're going to see until the day Hart's successor removes her from a job she's unable to do. She loves UT, but she's strictly an assistant at this level. It's not her fault she's not good enough-- it's the AD's fault for letting her continue to flounder at a job that's beyond her abilities.

Bingo! And she's too stubborn to hire an offensive minded assistant!

We really need a change in direction for the program. This is a bad group of coaches for every aspect of the game. They can't recruit and can never make adjustments or get the team on the right track when they are playing a bad game. We have a lot of players that need to work hard to improve this summer and they need someone that can help them we don't have that. Another tough season coming next year. We lose two of our post players so at this time we are a smaller team. We can't rebound now so next year will be worse. The program is in a tough situation for the coming season and possibly many seasons to come.

On five consecutive possessions Tennessee did not score because our guards spent a 3rd of their time dribbling the basketball with their heads down from one side of the court to the other around the bend dribble, dribble, dribble.

And the person dribbling the ball:clapping: with 20-30's left chucks up a shot and misses. Rebound MSS. The Lady Vols did that 5 consecutive times in the 3rd quarter.

Tonight Diamond was the offense. We got to the line plenty but did not capitalize.

A terrible regular season. Post season so far hit and miss.

The Post season continues into the NCAA Tourney. Which Tennessee team will show up?

DD has really shown some improvement in the last few games with reduction of turnovers and personal fouls. She does have the speed to go directly down court for the basket. I was really critical of her in the past. Good to see her improvement as she will be the heart of the team next year....provided we force Holly Warfield out.

I'd like to see Russell in better condition (able to really RUN down the court), with emphasis on stamina and jumping and body strength. Too many times she half-heartedly goes for the ball, and then backs out with palms up like "Sorry, I didn't mean to get in your way."

I would also demand hand strengthening exercises. She fumbles her catches 80% of the time. Some of that is NOT on her, but a lot of it IS.

I'd teach her to growl low in her throat every time she gets the ball or establishes position. And, when a foul is called and she goes to he FT line, I'd like her to say out loud "Oh, boy! I get to shoot a free throw!" Her mind needs to be reconditioned.

And I would demand that she quit fiddling with her hair during the game!

Russell is soft in the paint....

No offensive game plan, other than get the ball inside at all cost...

Carter and Middleton have no offensive skills....Is Carter still dribbling?

Coaching is weak....

Other than the above, we're a hell of a team.

Is anyone, ANYONE, expecting a different LV-coached team to show up in the NCAA tourney? It will be another embarrassing non-performance so you might as well practice hanging your head because none of us can be proud of this team/coach. Wish it wasn't true, but it's reality. No sense wishing & hoping. Get a coach, revive the program.

Carter and Middleton do dribble to much and to be fair to Carter when she was in HS she was a SG. But when she arrived at Tenn Holly moved her to pg which was a biggest mistake by Holly and it has it really hurt her offense. You can say the same thing for Graves she is not a 4 at 6-2 we saw that on display yesterday she can get the offensive rebound but when she try and put it back up she get`s stuffed or just throw it at the rim. Holly had 4 years to teach Graves how to a develop a mid range game and has fail to do so.

The excessive dribbling is not on the PG's, it's on the other 4 players who were standing around like statues instead of trying to get open for a pass. If the PG's had been passing the ball, it would have resulted in TO's most of the time. I think fatigue from the previous 2 nights played a role here, and I also think this was one time when more frequent substitutions could have rejuvenated the offense. And sending Jackson in and telling her to Velcro herself to Vivians could have been useful as well.

ND is currently showing how to run an offense! Beating the crap out of a good Syracuse team.

Then the PG should be directing players where to go. There's no excuse for dribbling side to side at the top of the arc for 20 seconds.

Vivians was on fire in the third quarter. I'm really not sure what Tennessee couldv'e done to slow her down.

Instead of following her and stopping at the three point line, you have to follow her past the three point line. Nared did a better job of this after Vivians' initial third quarter outburst, but the damage was done.

Also, Vivians' had several blantant pushoffs that should have been called as fouls. She got good separation from them. Nared told the official about it on one occasion.

But Vivians' has great range and a quick and high release. If she's on, you have to send two players at her and bump her hard as she works through the screens.

Andraya, Jordan and Alexa all did it. Dribble to their hearts are content then chucking up a shot and missing. Wasted offense.

Holly lets them do it time after time. She is watching the game, isn't she? One would think she would pull her guards out and tell them to stop doing that. Everyone MOVE to keep the defense off balance.

Andraya and Jordan should NEVER be in the game together at ANY TIME. Bad things happen.

You know HW was a PG,,, You would think that if ANY part of this operation was running well, PG would be the spot... Nope.

Vivians is a great player, but the LVs lost this game. They missed easy layups and second chance shots and only shot 28%-- the their second lowest % all season. They were 10-19 on free throws. Even clutch shooters like Graves missed critical free throws.

You can't play like this and expect to win. Everybody's tired and hurting this time of year. Winning teams fight through it; losing teams don't.

Dribble, Dribble, Dribble, Dribble, This is all on Holly Warlick, she has drilled into their head not to shoot till the last five seconds of the shot clock, they are just killing time so they can shoot the ball. No need to move around to get open they know they will get there buts chew out if they shoot too quickly. The defense knows this and don’t grad them till the end of the shot clock.

russell's lack of stamina and strength is clearly on her. health issues were with feet and she had an entire year to work in the weight room so as not to be pushed around by opposing 6 foot post players

The fact is that Russell is a soft, lazy, weak and lackadaisical ball player. A moron can see that, I don't know what that makes Holly because it is Holly who allows her to be that way. Coaches have the ability to bench a player, coaches have the ability to demand excellence, and coaches should have the ability to train.

When I see videos of Russell playing in high school, AAU and all star games she seems to play a lot better than what we see on the floor for the Lady Vols. That tells me that Russell is part of the problem because she is not giving the Lady Vols her best. I blame the coaching staff because they are not demanding Russell to give her best. I think that we are fooling ourselves if we believe that this coaching staff, as is, will ever be able to demand excellence and receive what they demand.

This is unnecessarily harsh. This is someone's daughter your insulting for goodness sake. Saying she gets pushed out of the paint or can't hold onto the ball or needs to gain strength is one thing. Leave it at that.

That's not even close to being correct. I watched her quite a bit this tourney and for the most part she battled for position on the offensive end but the guards couldn't get her the ball or reacted too slow to get it to her in time. She had somebody laying on her all the time. I don't know why it was allowed to happen but she had no "freedom of movement" in the paint. While it may be true that she doesn't play up to expectations, I have seen her give effort. She does work harder on the offensive end than the defensive end or it at least appears that way. We all expected her to dominate, but it doesn't appear that will ever happen. I hope I'm wrong about that, but we will see.
