Drive to 85!!

no, but i guess i better hurry & look before the next kid gets cut. lemme guess though, petey was ok with everything and still loves bama right?

His comments were positive. He just wasn't going to play at Alabama. He plays a position where all eight guys on Bama's two-deep would start for pretty much every other SEC school.

hmm, so where does bama's #'s sit right now? I'm sure there's more than a few back-ups pretty nervous. Must be stressful to play for bama. I mean, put in work all fall-winter-& spring, then come june little nicky dropps the guillotine on careers.

They know that going in.

Saban's reputation has been this way for a long time.

If you haven't cracked the two deep after three years I hope you are nervous.

As far as killing careers: I'm not familiar with a single name that left Alabama for playing time or any other reason who went on to great success elsewhere. Are there any guy who have been "cut" by Saban who are currently on an NFL roster? If these kids were destined for greatness before Saban intentionally buried them in order to destroy their futures, why haven't their talents elevated them now that they're gone?

maybe the answer to all of this is for saban & bama to recommend to these kids, when they have their hat ceremonies, (if they know their choosing bama) to go ahead & include a S. Alabama & Georgia State hat to the table. You know, let those guys keep an eye on their futures.

Or they could simply not sign with Alabama to begin with, since Saban tells each kid on the front end that schollies are one year deals.

another day another cut, this time its former 4 star RB Corey Grant. Playing Time? but wait a minute, didn't you guys tell Crowell that Hart was going to play corner? so that means you guys would be thin at RB right? Because in NO way would Saban "mislead" a recruit. Guillotine meet head. bet their walking on egg shells right now in the bama locker room.

I hope your joking because there is no way you can possibly believe this. Looks like another day another RB is leaving bama. Free agency at its best.

From the article:

Give Saban credit. At least he tells recruits they might get cut to clear space for newer signees. When the Myrtle Beach (S.C.) Sun-News interviewed seven participants in the Offense-Defense Bowl about the topic of the one-year, renewable scholarship, only one, Alabama commitment Christion Jones, knew his scholarship had to be renewed annually. "Coach Saban told me it's a one-year scholarship you have to work for," Jones told the paper. "Some coaches don't tell some kids. Some kids have to find out the hard way."

Grant actually took snaps at corner during the spring. Apparently he couldn't crack the two deep there, either. If the barn wants our fith string RB, they can have him.

That is a contract not a scholarship...Your gonna tell me that Saban tells each kid as well as his parents that if they dont pan out in a year then too bad? They at least deserve to finish their education unless they sabotage it by getting in trouble. So ur basically telling me that each prospect that Saban recruits, academics are never brought up and its all athletics and if you can get resigned then you can have a chance to get a degree. Hard to believe Saban can pull the type of classes he does with academics being a non factor in the recruiting process.

pay no mind to bamawriter, he's just another blind sheep herding to Saban's flock. there's 3 examples of players being snow jobbed by saban in this thread, and all he comes back with is "playing time". Its getting comical actually. Relax writer, I'll hit you back up tomorow with the newest victim of Saban's ethics, (er i mean kid who wants more 'playing time' wink wink).

I've given you proof of at least one kid who was told by Saban about the length of an athletic schollie. In fact, the Bama commit was the only one interviewed who knew that a schollie was for one year only. It is now incumbent upon you to find an article, tweet, facebook post, blog, or something indicating that a kid was "cut" from Bama's roster without the kid having any knowledge of the reality of his schollie.

Same challenge I gave to boxer, find some kind of comment from a player indicating that he left Bama against his wishes and/or without knowledge of the status of his scholarship.

You are under the mistaken impression that I don't believe that Bama's coaching staff are advising these kids to move on. I believe, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that the coaches are telling these kids that if they want to play, they should find greener pastures. But given that there hasn't been a single kid who has said otherwise, I don't believe that these kids are being "cut" in spite of their desires to stay at Bama and ride the pine.

proof? proof is in this very thread. There are 3 guys who have been cut because bama's # is like 96 schollies right now and they need to trim fat. I find it hard, no, impossible to believe that saban is laying all of this out in the living rooms of the kids, like you believe. No kid in his right mind would risk signing a 1 year (injury free) contract over a 4 year schollie with the opportunity to achieve their degree from that school. & who knows what they're "advised" to say to the media after the hammer drops. If i had to guess, it would be something like "This was a mutual decision, I still love Alabama & don't regret coming here." I'm suprised you're getting so worked up this early in the whittle down process. you've still got about 8 or so to go right!? keep holding that playing time card & they love bama line. I get the feeling you'll need it.

Proof? Im not gonna waste my time on looking around on facebook or whatever. All I need to do is pull up espn tomorrow and another Bama player will be going to another school with south, east or west in front of Alabama...Prediction it will be at a position of strength where the player was over recruited. This is fine since thats the way that Saban operates and kids keep falling for it....just dont try and sell me on the fact that all these kids are under contract for one year and know this up front.

If Saban would tell even one recruit that his schollie is a one year agreement (and I proved that he has), why would he refrain from telling others? This is one of those things where you either tell everyone, or tell no one, because if you tell someone then everyone will know before long.

You are simply looking at Bama's attrition and drawing a completely unproven conclusion that these kids are shocked to find out about their scholarships being for one year. And yet not a single player has mentioned being surprised by that information.

You act like there is a choice. Athletic scholarships are one year contracts at every single school in the nation. There is no such thing as a four or five year scholarship. As to how detailed Saban gets with each recruit, I have no way of knowing that. However, the article I posted proves that he has mentioned it, and might be the only SEC coach who has done so.
