Drop Alabama

Why? To be the tallest midget?
I will follow the Vols to whatever end, but I'd be lying if I didn't say a move to the ACC would diminish my participation. I have zero interest in watching us play Boston College, Wake Forest, and friends. Like none.

We are the second most successful program historically in the SEC and folks want to bail because we got hosed by Bama and refs, which isn't exactly some new phenomenon. Lol

Insane.

I’ll never understand the sentiment of “we got beat so let’s stop trying to beat them”. If a program aspires to be the national champs they’ve got to be able to beat all challengers. Running from one or a whole conference of them isn’t going to help that.

Good to see you zep

...and their pet zebras out of a C-130 at max altitude, with each of them receiving a paper towel for a parachute.

Edit: Whoops, I misunderstood the thread title. This wasn't a "complete the sentence" excercise, apparently.

Bingo. 8 and 4 programs do that to try to get to decent bowl games. Not programs with 6 national championships, 13 SEC championships, and more wins over Bama than any other program in the country.

Look at us PF posters out here being the voice of reason. Haha

That’s as weak as dropping North Carolina & Army off the schedule to get a weaker opponent. Just get as good as the guy you are trying to dodge. Also, karma will get you, the year we dropped North Carolina, we ended up playing hem in the Music City Bowl (and losing).

Was the UNC because of Hamilton?

I don’t agree with dropping Bama but there’s a good point being tossed around…

You really think Clemson, OSU, and Michigan are complaining about beating cup cakes to get to the play offs?

I’m not saying we should bail out of the SEC but there’s little to no punishment for playing in a weak conference.

The playoff committee doesn’t care.

If SEC goes to 1-7 format as Saban claims, then we wont play them every year
It is a mixed blessing.
I want to play them because I want us to beat them so badly.
But I am excited to play other teams more.
The Auburn and Ole Miss games will be more like rivalries again, and that is cool.

Agreed. Saban's close to calling it a day, the Bammers with their Saban-set expectations will be petulant for a decade trying to replace him with guys who can't measure up, their program will implode, and Tennessee will have a great chance to feast on their dying corpse - so let's jump ship now and get a bunch of Ws against middling competition. Makes no sense.

Alabama's best days are behind it. Tennessee's are ahead of it. Leaving now makes absolutely no sense.

Dude. The SEC is crooked and rigged. Yeah I’d rather dominate a weaker conference than never being allowed to win the one we are in. It’s not about being “weak”. That Bama game was pre determined. Rigged. Scripted. You want sport or drama?

Lol so you want rigged results. And scripted losses. Makes zero sense.

Now that we are going to a new scheduling format, it’s time to drop them as an annual opponent.
After the jobbing we just got on national tv, I have always been opposed to it. Now no longer.

I have lived in Alabama all of my life. I have been the lone Vols fan ANYWHERE I go... I never once jumped off the bandwagon through the bad years. The day UT doesn't play Alabama, is the day I lose alot of interest in College Football. TSIO is part of what makes football special for me. Not playing Bama, would be the equivalent of the Atlanta Braves changing their name to bow to the woke crowd. Traditions matters.

What is the big deal. The years Bama is not on the schedule TN could easily schedule them instead of one of the crap non SEC games they play. Do you people want to hold onto tradition enough to do that or will you cry about unfair because of the extra game against SEC opponent.

IF the SEC adopts a round robin schedule such that every team plays every other team home & away within each 4 year period, then teams wishing to maintain annual rivalries will have to use one of their OOC slots on off years. Do you think that Alabama and Tennessee would be willing to do this? What about the other oldest annual rivalry, Georgia and Auburn? And, do either Tennessee or Georgia care that much about playing Florida every year? 😉

Keep Bama. Post Saban, they will go back to being the dysfunctional program they were the 24 years between legendary coaches
They probably put in Sabans contract he has to tell them how all the cheating is done without being caught .
