Dubar back at practice

The most obvious choice is Cade. I don't think Cade is a good fit with Estrella or Okpara due to the spacing concerns. He's also not really big enough to guard most 5s, particularly in the SEC. He fits well with Igor, and we could certainly play him over Estrella depending on the matchup.

I think he's a 4 in our system like JJJ was, but I guess he could play the 3. In that case it would be over Carr, but I like Carr.
Agreed. Come on Carr! Rooting for ya!

I don't think he's as good as Estrella. I think Cade is solid, but we could certainly use the spacing. Cade's game is just limited. He's only really a pick and roll guy, which is already what Okpara does. JP as well, but he has at least somewhat of a post game in addition. Essentially we have 3 guys that do the same thing, but two of them have far better size for a post.
I think he has shown much better than Estrella, this year, so far...albeit a very limited sample size. JP coming off of injury hasn't helped and opened up more minutes for Cade. For a guy who barely touched the floor as a freshman, he's averaging 6 pts/4 rebs while shooting 73%. He's also not turned the ball over even once in 53 minutes.

I do understand your concerns about his role and how he fits, but right now, he is pulling up the slack for JP, who I agree has a higher ceiling. Will he ever get fully healthy and stay there is the question. Feels like he is always dealing with some ailment.

Phillips reminds me a lot of John Fulkerson. Fulky took a little while to get going, himself, and was a bit of a role player his first few years, partly because of injury.

JP appears to be exclusively a 5 while Cade hasn’t played the 5 much at all IIRC? Those 2 aren’t really competing for PT at the same position

Cade has definitely play a few minutes at the 5, we have done 4 guards with him at the 5 in the first two games for a couple minutes.

Not really the point either, it's about where Dubar fits in (if he does). Dubar is a 4 most likely, which means he would be taking Cade's minutes. You could move Cade to the 5 over Estrella if Dubar comes back as well, which is the other side of the coin.

Or just accept that Dunbar was a swing and a miss and stick with our promising sophomores - every portal signee isn’t going to work out. JMO, TIFWIW

Don't underestimate Estrella. He has been injured all Fall and is just now beginning in basketball shape
