Looking over our roster in the biggest losers and gainers weight wise, I got a notion. I decided to peek into the Oregon site to look at their roster. I know they recruit for speed so maybe no surprise their DL is not SEC sized.

In any case, I'm encouraged that our OL may indeed be able to push them out of the way for our RB to gorge out big chunks of yardage. Once again, if our big WRs can produce against the comparatively smaller Duck CBs and DBs, we could actually win this game. Now, what I think is the bad news. They seem to have some rather big TEs. This could give us trouble, serious trouble. Their OL seems to match up pretty even with our DL so given our guys always were 4-3 guys forced to play 3-4 last year, we may be rather disruptive to their offense.

Size isn't everything, I well know. But I am surprised at how well we match up with them. So much so, I think if we can even decently contain their speed, we will walk out of their stadium as winners.

This same exact argument was made when we played them at home.

:)With our big OL dont turn the ball over and who know in the 4th quarter if its close the Ducks might sink instead of swim.

The trenches are what's gonna get us a 2009 type season. I've mentioned it many times this offseason and I'm gonna stick with it. This team ends up 7-5 or 8-4.

Our D-line is going to be the difference maker. Oregon seems to struggle when they face a disruptive defensive line.

We have no chance to stop them unless this new coach they have doesn't have a clue on how to run that offense. People continue to underestimate this football team and I have no idea why. They are arguably the 2nd best football program in the country right now. Our WRs have little chance against their corners. We may be able to run the ball but that is the only matchup we will win. Sorry for the reality check.

People also underestimate the fact that Doofus isn't on our sidelines anymore. There's a reality check.

That's exactly how you beat teams like Oregon. Control the clock by running the ball and keep their offense off the field as much as possible. We did in during the 1st half of the 2010 game. The offense line and running backs are better now.

Agreed. We should just forfeit the Oregon game this year, as well as the UF, UGA, USCe, and Bama games for the next 3 years until CBJ has a fully loaded roster that is, on paper (size/weight and composite * rating), dead even or better than those teams. Then we just might have chance to squeak out a victory.

2016 will be our year!

I have to believe that a ball control game plan is in the works, as there is no way Butch tries to out-tempo the Ducks or put it in the hands of his QB. Of course, they know that and will stack the box. Our offensive line is better than any the Ducks will see the rest of the year, but we need good perimeter blocking from unproven WRs and no fumbles from the RBs (I'm talking to you Neal). Sooner or later though, with 8-9 in the box, the passing game will have to come through to beat the spread. Sorry, I see no chance of a W here, but hoping to beat spread.

8-9 in the box is good. Lets play some old school smash mouth football. If they come to play that kind of game, we will definitely win.

Their skill players will run like Usain Bolt across the middle of the field against our slow LBs and will pick up big chunks of yardage. And their up tempo, no huddle offense will gas our D bigtime, forcing us to go into our 2 deep. With the horrid depth we have on that side of the ball, and an offense that could barely pick up a first down in the O and W game, it will be a bloodbath I'm afraid.

You're giving Oregon too much credit. Yes, they're good, but I can guarantee you our offense will be on the field ALOT.

That can happen if your D can't stop the big play.

We might give up a couple big plays in this game, but we will wear down their D in this game when our O takes the field. We're gonna run and run some more. Going back to the defense, it just can't get any worse and I think we get a good bit of pressure on their QB throughout the game. If Oregon wins, I see no more than a 10 point victory, but I'm not gonna be surprised if UT pulls the upset.
