I say Duke goes Sweet 16 maybe, just maybe E8. They play a little D this year, maybe that will help them down the road. Just my guess.

ucla is garbage as is the rest of the pac-10. of course the sec and big-10 is garbage too. some are bound to play eachother.
The problem with this field is that so many of the majors are awful conferences. You get outside the top 4 in any of the conferences, aside from the Big East and maybe the ACC and we're talking about some serious weakness. So those 7-10 seeds are just going to suck this year.

im not sure that the field will be so weak. i think the 4-10 seeds are goin to be comprised of basically the same quality of teams. i see alot of upsets this year.
and duke will not make a run unless their opponents turn the ball over and duke shoots around 45% from three. thats how all the smaller teams do it in march when they cool off they are done. Uts problem since bruce has been here.

we're just not that good. we have some nice players, but no elite players, and they can't handle tough defensive teams like ucla. our point guard, our best player, will basically shut down if he get banged around and he also is a major defensive liability. montgomery is a great coach, but the team has too many flaws to go deep in the tourney. if our frontcourt guys get healthy next year i imagine we'll be a top-20 team, but this team just doesn't have it. on the other hand we light up lazy defensive teams so maybe we get some good matchups. i doubt we make it out of the first weekend though.

That's cool man, just wondering...

So basically...when filling out your bracket...just pick the favorite?

I'll still pick the matchups, but there just doesn't seem to be any strength in that range. Seems to me that a 6 seed will be just about the same quality as a 12 seed.

You have to go 7 pages back to find Duke. They have not been "live or die" from the three this year. It hasn't won them many games. When they are on from 3 it's just been a bonus.

Basically, there are over 180 teams that have shot better from 3 than Duke this year. Meanwhile Duke has consistently stayed in the top 10 and have the number 3 rpi.

it would be interesting to look at the teams that they played that have an inside presence such as UNC and look a shooting % and look at those wins and losses.

Duke obviously has trouble against bigger post teams, but you were talking about the tournament straight up. You didn't get in to matchups. Duke will feast on a team that plays a similar style. See the Xavier game this year. Which is most likely the kind of teams they will be playing the first two rounds. So the early exit is very debatable.

When the brackets actually come out it will help.

They're jacking up 3's like there's no tomorrow against FSU. 25-45 shots are 3's and making 28% half way thru the 2nd.

Them shooting the 3 poorly AND playing a big team close doesn't seemto jibe with your earlier comments.

They did shoot way too many tonight. But it didn't help our best post player got hurt in the first 4 minutes and in comes Zoubek.

And if you don't know who Zoubek is, I'll put it to you like this: Chism gets hurt and in comes Steven Pearl to replace him. Yes, I just compared a 7'1 center to Steven Pearl. I hope that tells you something.

And now LT could be out for the rest of the season...

With that said... &*ck. Now I can see an early exit. And by early I mean before the s16.

It seemed like every sign tonight had Paulus' name on it... I don't get it, why do they love him so much!? :ermm:

Greg isn't the most gifted basketball player in the world, but he is Duke through and through. He busts his ass every single play, and is great in the classroom. No reason to not like him. He's done everything K has asked him to do since stepping foot on campus. And didn't care to get bumped from the starting 5 when Nolan, and now Elliot's name got thrown in.

So like I said, he's no superstar, but he's a great guy.

So, McClure was a senior and didn't get any love. Why waste time on Paulus, don't let the door hit you on the way out.

I don't understand the Paulus love either, I think he is absolutely awful. That's why he got all the love, too. That and he is white.

Oh that is just a wonderful reason to love a basketball player! And I could think of plenty of reasons.

I would've cheered loud and proud tonight for Paulus. I never have to worry about seeing someone treat him like he's standing still on D and I don't have to see him constantly facing away from the basket when he dribbles in Cameron again.
