Dylan Sampson would hang 250

He has never come close to that against anyone. Do you think Oregon has the absolute worst defense we have played in the past three years?
Oregon's defense looks terrible. I think Sampson could eclipse 200+ yards on them if he was given the greenlight. But we would probabky be more balanced if we played them. But he is certainly capable.

Honestly, all these Big 10 defenses get overrated every year becuase the offenses in that league usually underwhelm and as a result the defensive stats look good. But, just like Nico and our 3rd string WRs put up 35 against Iowa's caunted defense, I think our offense would walk down the field against these Big 10 defenses.

Yes. Tennessee matches up so well with both Tosu and Penn State that it's exciting to think about trashing an overrated Oregon at the granddaddy of them allllll 🤣

You saved me the bother of starting a separate thread on this point. It struck me, while watching this game, that Penn State has two good backs, who individually have amassed approximately 800 yards rushing each for this season. In conjunction with their quarterback, they combined for 292 yards rushing on only 35 carries, for an 8.3 average. We know that Tennessee can flat out run the football. Should we emerge victorious from our first-round opponent, how do you like our chances against the No.1-ranked team in the country?

People said the same thing about Purdue / Big 10 when we played them in the Music City Bowl. We know how that turned out ...

We did! We rushed for 289 yards in that game and beat them on the field. We just got 288 in the box score because everyone on earth except the officials saw us score that last touchdown.

We are historically bad against Penn St. Avoid if possible. They looked far more talented than Ohio St last night and better coached.

Georgia’s defense is better than Oregon’s defense, point blank. He’s also one of only two running backs to go over 100 against Georgia all season: most haven’t cracked 60.
Ashton Jeanty only had 197 Oregon's defense. Sampson is the Vols best player, but I don't think he cracks 150. Maybe he'll prove me wrong 🤷‍♂️

I’m not affraid to play any of these teams. If you get a minute, look at who they played. Then imagine what it would look like if any Big 10 team was dropped into the SEC

I said this before the Big 10 championship game. I wanted us on the side of the bracket with all the Big 10 teams. That conference is so overrated. Gimme Ohio State or Penn State in round 1. Then Oregon at the Rose Bowl. That's a favorable draw.
Ohio State's defense is impressive to me and they have some highly skilled playmakers on offense. If UT is going to win our D line cannot be absent like they were against UGA. Michigan's D line absolutely schooled the buckeyes OL and that is where we can take advantage as well. This game has the feel of first team to 24-27 points probably wins. IF we are victorious, then the next game vs Oregon will be a shootout.

250 would be ludicrous, don’t get me wrong, I just don’t think “well he didn’t do that against Georgia” is the best counterpoint. Maybe “this isn’t a video game.”

I wouldn’t be surprised if he gets around 150, but we gotta make it to the Rose Bowl first.

Penn State had 292 rushing yards against the ducks. IF UT has the opportunity to play Oregon, then I like our chances of running for well over 200 against Oregon's defense. Have to get past OSU first.
