Early line on LSU is Vols -4.5

It was a good game plan, in theory. They took the risk of AR having a good passing game and he did. It still wasn't enough.
I think we'll see more stunts, CB blitzes andmore coverage disguises against LSU. This will be a fun game to watch. I think we light them up and our defense will be good enough to keep them from matching our offensive output.

Well we have 2 weeks to discuss that game. Their QB stresses me out a lot, that kid can move. He’s on pace to rush for 700-800 yards this year, and he’s already thrown for 835, 6 TD’s, no picks. That receiving corp is crazy good too. If we made Richardson look that good, this kid will light our defense up.

I think we have yet another shootout coming.
LSU has given up 12 Sacks this season against far lesser opponents. I am curious as to how their O-line will hold up if we bring pressure. Not too concerned about the no-picks being thrown he has only 6 TD's on the season, again, against lesser opponents.

The gameplan of making Richardson beat you with his arm is good, but part of that plan was keeping Richardson uncomfortable. We stuck to the script way too much. We should have mixed it up more so he wasn't confident in what he was seeing. Part of that was caused by players though. Our blitzers weren't big able to bring him down or even contain him on rollouts.

I hoped we would get pressure like we did @ Pitt. I think we can do that vs LSU.

See the link. They actually did try to execute the mixing it up game plan you suggested.

Despite mistakes, Tim Banks proud of Vols' late-game grit in Florida win

Did you watch any of the Auburn Mizzou game, they are bad, real bad and should have lost if kicker could hit a chip shot. If LSU does t win by at least 9 we will roll them hard.
LSU will win by at least 3 TDs. Bet the house on them to cover. Even tease that thing up to 14 or so.

Almost agree, if it where not for the Alabubba QB1!!!!! I think he is a fairly gifted QB.
I was only talking strength… Bryce Is the best Qb in the nation and probably the best college Qb I’ve seen his ability to feel pressure and escape is scary good for a Qb so young throw in his accuracy with that and he will give us fits but I love my Qb hooker and I think he will be ready to go toe to toe with Bryce in Knoxville to give us a shot late… I’m excited to watch this Vol team every week they fear no one and will bring that fight and effort every week win lose or draw the other team will have to earn it and that’s all you can ask as a fan GBO

This is the one that has worried me the most. If we lose to LSU, could very easily be the start of a 4-out-of-5 losing streak that would be red meat for the nat'l media to jump all over the "same ole' Tennessee" narrative. Win, and a 10-2 season with the only losses being to the #1 & #2 ranked teams in the country and a New Year's Day Bowl game becomes a very realistic option. I'd even be mostly OK w/9-3 at that point w/a loss to UK. Lose to LSU and the Kentucky game becomes a must-win game.

Brian Kelly is a total a$$hole, but he can coach and there's plenty of talent on that LSU roster and they're only going to get better each week. Banks and Martinez have to get those holes in our secondary fixed or it's going to be a long day.

One thing about this staff that will help in a game like this is that they adjust to what’s happening. If LSU’s mobile QB has a breakout first half, then I think we adjust and have a 1-2 score advantage in the end.

Got ya, sorry for the mixup on my part.

AR was a beast he threw out of at least 3 sacks and got away from pressure on rollouts a few more times… we will continue to improve but we won’t see a stronger Qb all season Levis at UK will be the only comparison…

Spot on!

Remember those times our DB or LB got a hand on AR and couldn't bring him down this weekend?

Those have a much better probability of being sacks, QB hurries or turnovers going forward!

I would not do the Florida game plan lol. If the QB beats you with his legs, so be it. But do not give him all day to throw in against weak ass zone. Come after him
Blitzing a running QB is how you allow him to beat you with his legs tho. It isn't popular but I like the UF gameplan. Who cares how many yards he puts up through the air. Get the W.

Florida state beat them which I think was shocked. Play the same type of defense they did in 1st half

Heupel has two weeks to scheme evil upon this LSU defense. I think we shred their defense with or without Tillman.

Fresh legs on defense should allow for a competent performance.

Angles ... When AR rolled to the left, he was too fast for our defense. They need to take better angle to the sideline instead of getting behind and trying to chase AR down ... it didn't work.

Gameplan essentially worked for 52 minutes. Then they went prevent/4 minute D.

Not wild about the match ups in this game unless UT gets lots of pressure on their QB. They will be by far the best D UT has faced this year.

The key to playing a soft zone like we did against UF is tackling in space. Numerous times guys came flying in to make the tackle with no regard to breaking down. Every starting DB was guilty of this multiple times. Shore this up and I think this kind of defense can be effective.

You come after Jayden Daniels and he’s going to absolutely torch you with this legs. Our DB’s are going to have to wake up a start locking folks down while we try our best to contain him.
Hard to lock anyone down when you play a soft cover 2 all game. You absolutely have to come after him but we have to keep good contain and hold our lanes and play more man outside.

LSU at BR is always a challenge. Just like Florida, they will bring their A game. Win this though and we have a great shot at at least a 9 win season
Nope even if we don't win this one 9 is still the floor. LSU, Alabama, and Georgia that is it. If we don't beat LSU 9-3.
