Give it a rest dude. Someone who adds pertinent info to discussions doesn't need to be flamed like that. I'm not trying to be a jerk, but you definately come off as the sour, immature one in this little debate...just saying.

You just make no sense in your logic and clearly don't know anything about recruiting. Most peoples opinions are here are slightly UT biased, but you just take it to a whole nother level, and you don't even know what you're talking about.

Charles Drake owns and operates the site, I just do some interviews/articles for him.

And trying to damage my credibility/flame me by incorrectly saying I'm 15 is stupid.

So C Drake thinks this about UGA
OL: A / IF HEALTHY, this could be the best O-Line in the SEC. Getting Trinton Sturdivant back at OT should help.

Also this about UT:
QB: F / Just horrible.
OL: B / Potential 1st round pick Josh McNeil will lead an O-Line that should be helped by an easier blocking scheme in '09.

Wow...Crystal balls can be cloudy.

Your articles on Cobbs and Arie K I thought were really good.

I would love to know this from players as the season progresses, what teams they have watched on TV that have impressed them, what other players have been saying about programs on the rise, and if they have been surprised with any programs that are struggling.

If you ask it that way you will still have lots of doors open all over the country because you will not be moving someone in any direction.

Lemonier may very well be going to Illinois. There was a rumor a couple of weeks ago that he had already committed to them...

USC has quit pushing hard on Riley as of late. If they want him really bad, it would be very tough for UT to pull him...

We really do have almost no shot at Powell, or Joyner for that matter. We do have a shot at Dyer and everyone knows it. We have been his #2 for a while now...

You are way off base here...

Vader I like your posts and I am confused if you read mine.

I think we have more than a 5% chance at getting Dyer.

I think that Powell will probably go to USC or UF.

My point on Lemonier is that it is stupid to say that he is 95% certain to Illinois. I think the season of football being played right now this fall will have a big impact on where he goes. He would have liked his FSU experience more if Ponder had thrown 4 inches higher. Illinois seriously may fire Zook (even though they almost definitely would not do better with a new staff).

I am not flaming JMVA. I was sincere that I think it is cool that at 16 years old he is doing these interviews, and I would sincerely like to read some more where he asked those questions I suggested. I also think the Vol Hostesses piece would get pageviews.

The only stuff I wrote was the interviews/articles with recruits that had my name on them. All other stuff is Charles unless stated otherwise.

Jesse it is not your fault. When I was your age I was a student at UT, but I wish I could have been writing for a website and getting college coaches to call me back.

Charles is setting you on the wrong path with stuff like this. You cannot do mathematical certainty for a human being. They may seek guidance from God with prayer and fasting like Bryce Brown. They may follow their dads job. They may feel disrespected because they are taken for granted once they commit. They may love a teams uniform. They may love a hostess on an official visit. Can it be that fickle? Oh yes!

That is why speaking in certainties is the currency of fools. When you are wrong over and over and over again, you are the little boy who cried wolf and people do not trust you. You can take the time to look through all of my posts, I have never claimed to know where any of these guys are going. I have made arguments about who I want, who I wish we could get, why it makes sense for certain guys to come here with their family ties, or love of coaches or stated desire for playing time or whatever it is.

Corey Lemonier is going to Illinois? The same team that is losing Juice Williams after this year and that if they implode after getting humiliated in game one could lose Ron Zook? Dietrich Riley is going to USC not UT? Do you see why these numbers make you seem stupid?

Say what you know, not what you do not.
It is very likely that Ronald Powell will got to either USC or UF. Yes UT offered him first and yes he is probably coming for an official visit, but Florida is a place he has now paid to come see several times (unlike Knoxville) and USC is the hometown program with the Hollywood glitz and glamor with recent alums who stayed in mansions while in school breaking up with Kardashians to move on to other women. None of that is dumb. All of that is true.

"Ronald Powell zero percent chance" is an idiotic statement. It is one that might fly on your website but it will damage your credibility and it brings you nothing. I could spitball and say Lamarcus Joyner FSU lock, UT no chance, Dyer is going to Auburn he is a Barner lock, UT has no chance (or even more retarded has a 5% chance) but when those predictions happen no one is going to think I am special, they will know that I have read premium recruiting boards.

If you want a story idea that would get more traffic than anything you have done on your site, interview Lacey Earps. She will be a great resource for information about the hostess program and I think she would enjoy talking to a young man like yourself.

I truly admire you for doing something constructive that is a hobby and a passion and I think you could succeed in it even more than the heights you have already gotten to. Try asking recruits what team they use when they play NCAA 2010, that would be a real piece of info I would want to know. Ask them if their family is concerned about distance etc.

Keep up the good work!

Corey Lemonier isn't going to Illinois, Cory is a Cane lean at the moment. He's probably staying in the state of Florida.

You really don't have a chance with Powell. I checked with my sources(not GC), and it's a USC and UF race with UT as a very distant third.

Lamarcus Joyner is a heavy FSU lean, but if he changes his mind between now and NSD he'll probably be a Gator. We're a distant second for his services.

Dyer is likely going to Auburn or Arkansas.

Chill out with all the flaming and bashing. It's one thing if you're bashing a rival fan base, but it's a whole other issue when you're bashing someone who's as passionate about Vol Football as you are.

lol are you serious? You think talking down to me like I'm a child and trying to act like my priest is cool?

I write when I want for Charles and the site in my free time because I think they are great guys who run the site over there. I wouldn't be talking bad about someone you've never met, don't know, and works hard, which Charles does, just becuase you disagree with some of the stuff he writes. Charles is a good guy and that's why I help out over there...

Flamed? I was attacked by a young guy for a prediction that was not a prediction. I suppose I should qualify daydreams by saying, "I am not predicting that I know where future players will room" but I thought it was clear with basic reading comprehension.

I look forward to more posts from JMVA and since he is young and obviously very intelligent I am guessing he is in a great position to continue to grow as a writer. If he will learn that I am not a sportswriter on here to make predictions, and that if he wants to be a sportswriter he should never say "we" (hide it like Timmy Brando with LSU and Herbstreit with OSU) and that it makes you look smarter to provide facts without prognostication, he will go very very far in that profession.

I would rather read his interviews than the guesses that are frequently wrong written by his boss, and John Adams etc.

I love reading sportswriting. Grades and the other gimmicks most people are doing nowadays are irritating to me. I love sportswriting with pop culture references, I love writers who can laugh at themselves, I love writers who have mailbags where they flame back and I love more than anything else sportswriters who tell me something I did not know and would not know but for their writing. Great interviews give recruiting junkies a little window into the head of an athlete they want to come play for their team, and we are all grateful for that, even if it says Ronald Powell is even less likely to come to your school or that your favorite DT in George Uko decided to cancel his visit because he does not want to be that far away.

Going back about a week when I asked him about his status as a writer, I was not trying to flame, and when I said I was a little jealous I was sincere. He has an awesome job, and I am glad he is on here.

Yeesh. Is this like a famous make a wish foundation thing I am not aware of? People seem pretty thin skinned about a discussion on a message board.

Please don't insinuate that UT is ahead of us for Joyner... But I'm curious, who do you think is ahead of us for Joyner other than FSU?

For the Rogers brothers, 'old' and 'new' sound better than 'big' and 'little', imo.

FWIW, new is the real deal.

I just realized that most of the posters on here who I rely on for the best info are all under 22. I am under 30 and have never felt really old, but I guess it makes sense that it is easier to be someones facebook friend and check out all the tabbed stories on firefox on your laptop at school when you are still in school.

Keep up the good work Vader, and bburger etc!

Great post!

The UT students are the lifeline of real 'news' on VN. They get the scoop first and it's an awesome group here.

Thanks Gentlemen!

I'm in my mid 20's as well, but that doesn't mean I can't tell when someone's really trying mask their being condescending. You clearly just questioned the avenues in which these guys get their info and that in itself shows what your agenda has been all along. I like how you go back and cover it up, though. As the older, more mature member, I would you think you would be the guy to just let it go and drop it. Just my opinion. It may not amount to much. I, for one, value any tidbit of information and find that sometimes the guys with off the wall predictions bring some interesting views that I would have never considered. Every member adds something to the collective community...even that Mos Def guy.

Lol, I guess since you're older, you must be smarter. If so, it hasn't shown through in your posts. I'm older than many on this site, and many are older than me. To try and base the validity of someone's statement on their age is one of the more annoying and idiotic fallacies you could be guilty of.

Geez...
Intelligence has nothing to do with age although it is much easier to display your unusual intelligence when you are a young prodigy than when you are a middle aged patent attorney or large corporate VP.

If you can point to one time I said that anyone said something more or less valid because of their age I would apologize but you will not be able to.

I hate ageism with a passion. I was often judged as being too young in many of my endeavors and I think it is stupid.

I did try to offer some free advice to a 16 year old who has accomplished more already than many sportswriters. I thought maybe he would take the advice in the spirit that it was offered, but instead he said I was trying to be a priest.

I did not start a flame war with this guy, he said I knew nothing about recruiting and bashed me based on a non prediction. We are not all on here for amateur sportswriting hour, some of us enjoy dreaming out loud.

I was genuinely surprised when I found out how young everyone on here is. LWS is a guy who I have respected and listened to for inside information for a very long time, and I always thought that the recruitniks on here were probably boosters with deep pockets and deep rolodexes. I am happy to see that I was wrong and that many of the people on here with the best info are just young and passionate fans. Since JMVA is more than a fan, he is a successful writer, I offered some free advice. I did not see it as something to get bent out of shape over.

I always welcome advice, and if you ever come to my jobsite you can point out more efficient ways for me to sweep up the sheet rock dust. I will then break out an RC cola and a moonpie just for you.

I really don't want to get in the middle of this as I love this site and think it is a great fountain of info on my Vols. However, it's getting really old reading some posters berate, talk down to, and bash other posters on this site.
To be perfectly honest, JMVA started this little pissing contest on the first page of the thread. If you disagreed with his comments, debate him, but don't argue with him. Mike Hamiltonfan never caimed to have any inside knowledge. He is just a fan that loves to talk recruiting.
Some of you on here do in fact know quite a bit more than others. Dont be a smarta#$ about it. Save the hostility and holier than thou attitude for the less civilized fan bases.

I won't lie, I know I started it. I just got a little riled up when I thought MHF got condescending, though I'm sure I act like that sometimes too. While I may disagree with him sometimes, I'll try to respect his opinions more in the future.

Truly and sincerely I am jealous of the work you get to do and I think you do it very well. It is hard to detect sarcasm or sincerity on a message board.. I should not bash Charles, so sorry about that, but I think your Smokey site should be your brand. You have unreal access to top players and you do a good interview.

Unsolicited advice often seems like criticism because it is appears to be saying you do not know what you are doing and I am sorry if mine came across that way. Take it instead as a fan of your writing who is asking for certain things he would like to see more of. In the UCLA story posted by Freak here a little while ago, I freaking love hearing Stills admit that the outcome of the UCLA UT game will have a lot to do with his decision.

Keep up the good work!

A big reason why I don't write for my blog that often anymore is because

A) Not that many people read it to be honest. I checked it a few days ago and it's maxing out at about 30 views per day.

and

B) I'm really not supposed to interviewing recruits for personal purposes like a blog, unless of course I have credentials like I have at TR.

I really prefer do interviews from a Tennessee reporters view (Like VQ, insidetennessee, etc) but none of those sites I'm sure would have me write for their staffs because I really don't do anything structured. I really just interview and write articles on recruits when I feel like it and when I have spare time. Right now, I just pretty much call guys and post updates on them. Not to mention I'm not an experienced writer and don't really have any "sources". Basically all info I post on here comes recruits themselves, which sometimes can be a good thing or bad thing.

I love you posting in the recruiting forum and all, and can even deal with your very lengthy threads, but you have to be realistic with recruiting. You seem to be the least realistic person on here when it comes to prospects. You pretty much think everybody in the world that has a UT offer will sign with UT (That's a hyperbole I know, but you get the point).

In reality, I would consider us lucky if we sign one of JR Ferguson, Brandon Willis, Todd Chandler and Kelcy Quarles.

Just please try think both ways. If an Alabama (or any other one of our rivals) guy came on here and made some of the predictions you made, he would be absolutely ripped to shreds and laughed at....

1 down, and only 1 or 2 to go.

Would still be nice to get Quarles and I still think it is very possible.

Also think we lose Broussard to grades and or LSU so we have more room than some think at this spot.
