Earthquake 12/12/18

I had woke up about 5 minutes before it happened today. I thought a plane was just flying low overhead or a huge truck coming by my place. Then it just kept going... got on social media immediately after and everyone in Athens was already posting all over social media about it so I confirmed I wasn't crazy.
I don't see how those posts are any confirmation of your sanity.

When I was a freshman in high school we got 2 or 3 days off school because some guy predicted the big one was coming. 89/90, it was supposed to happen in KY, TN, Virginia.

I remember that in detail but our schools definitely didn't get cancelled.

Another earthquake tonight, this time in Mascot. 2.7. I hope this area isn't getting ready to have a big one. that's like 5 or 6 quakes in the past week in East TN.

Anyone think the earthquake affected hibernation? Will an animal go back a den where a quake occurred? I've heard animals can sense seismic activity before a quake.

Actually the more frequent The less likelyhood of a big one. It's trapped gases being released. Now, if we haven't had all these than yeah and big one could occur. East Tennessee has several earthquakes. The media is just now reporting on them because nothing else is going on right now.

I have to admit, it was pretty cool to know I felt what an earthquake feels like.
There were two strong enough to notice during the 3-4 years I was in the Bay Area. I was sitting in the living room, and it felt exactly as if someone had picked up my chair a few inches, moved it to the right, and dropped it. We were in bed (yes, the earth moved 😎) for the second one, and it was one of those long rumbling ones that seemed to go on and on. Hubs, as a lifelong Cali boy, leapt out of bed to stand in the doorway - took him about a half second to get there.

He still won’t place a bed under a window because of the danger of breaking glass.

That's crazy!! The first one you describe sounds like airplane turbulence.
