East Tennessee Weather II

Something that concerns me is if those uncertainties are resolved in the worst case (meaning sufficient instability and not much in the way of morning storms), it could be extremely bad.

Think the southern 2 rows of counties bordering Bama and Georgia might have some serious issues Saturday....

(And more if worse case plays out)

/~\Severe Weather Outbreak/~\

There is an Enhanced Risk for strong to severe thunderstorms for the southwestern half of East TN (from Sevier, Knox, Union, Campbell County and areas south and west) and a Slight Risk for NE Tennessee on Saturday.

Timing: Saturday afternoon into Saturday night

Impacts: Widespread damaging to potentially destructive winds in excess of 70mph is the primary threat. Large hail and a few tornadoes are also possible.

There's still some uncertainty with regards to instability and timing, but we should start to get a much better picture of what we will see in the next 24 hours or so once high resolution short range models come into range.

I follow some local weather pages etc.. on Facebook and they posted several maps showing the potential severe weather.

The comments are full of does this include so & so community and where are we located. Etc. . Etc...

It's amazing to me the number of grown adults that doesn't know where their community is located or even the where/what the county they live in looks like on a weather map.

I feel like geography is the least taught thing in school.

There are some crazy STP for Saturday for the eastern half of MS and western half of Bama. If a supercell develops in the Memphis region tomorrow night, those STPs are really concerning as well...

Going to be almost 2 years since I had a couple of rental properties destroyed by an EF3...

The following was shared to emergency management places, but here is a graphic showing where Morristown thinks the greatest chance to see tornadoes in East TN this Saturday. As a side note, even if you are in the lower tornado risk, it's definitely not going to be a zero risk.

I have very, very rarely seen a setup like this for a violent atmosphere. Mississippi, Alabama, and southern Tennessee will straight up be under the gun. Strong vertical shear and and helicity profiles, Strong CAPE values, Upper level divergence, Steep lapse rates, cyclogenisus along approaching font, strong jet, rich moisture plume. Dang.

We were planning to drive from Baton Rouge to Mobile today, stay the night there, then go on to Gainesville Sunday.

I'm thinking might be wiser to stay off road road today, and just drive to Florida on Sunday, going behind this storm system.

I mean, TORCON 7, high probability of hail, heavy rains, high winds as we cross many bridges ... I can hear the voice of my departed dad: "Stay OUT of them places!"

Good luck, Middle Tennessee. 🙏🧡
