Easy Question, why has no one asked CJH this?

I think the big unknown with Nico (and all young QBs) is WILL they develop this ability and when.
100% this. The most important component to a QB is their processor, and I’d say most of the time it’s impossible to tell what kind of processor they have because it’s never really been challenged in high school. Lots of guys have strong arms and can be accurate when given time and receivers are open. It’s when things are happening rapidly and windows are tiny that you see really good QB’s separate themselves. The more I see, the more I think evaluating high school QB’s and how they will translate to college is the toughest job in college football.

Difference in QB is the obvious answer. Hendon Hooker was the only one that could execute correctly. This is definitely not on Heupel who has to make do with what he's got and probably has immense pressure to stick with the one who cost the boosters so much money. I doubt it gets any better next year - hope I'm wrong.
And who's responsible for what he's got???

1. QB. In 2021 Hooker was a RS JR. In 2022, he was a RS SR. Huge difference.

2. Better OL play in 2022

3. WRs were vastly better in year 1 and 2.
No doubt the receivers were open more when HH was QB but that may have been a manifestation of the uptempo system rather than a discrepancy in player talent. An uptempo offense prevents the defense from having time set resulting in more missed defensive assignments snd WR/defensive player mismatches.

The 2022 team was a flash in the pan. That was our best chance to win it all had they not screwed the pooch against South Carolina. I truly believe we would’ve won a rematch against Georgia that year. But you know what they say about ifs and buts.

Why is there such a difference in the speed of snaps of the offense from year 1 to year 4? Or Year 2? Is it him letting OC truly call plays? CJH needs to revert to what got him this job...

To me, the question the media needs to ask Heupel, is why his offense hasnt come close to 2022 success despite having 2 different QBs with one QB being his hand picked guy which he devoted a large share of NIL money. A secondary question would be why he hasnt been able to address key offensive positions through either recruiting or portal acquisitions (OL, TE and WR).

I'm a big believer that you design your system to maximize the strengths and abilities of your personnel, not try to retrofit them into a system that doesn't do that.

Because you have a 2nd year qb you that you have to coddle with kids gloves. Let’s hurry and get to the line so they can look at the defense to help keep Nico from disaster while causing the O-line to sit there forever and getting tons of presnap penalties.

Because we don’t have the dawgs to compete with upper teams. We rank 16th in NIL money. The top schools in NIL money is Oregon, Texas, and Ohio State. If they have 8 to 10 better players, we ain’t competing with them. We get whipped by better players. Sure we can beat the rest of the SEC because our coaching staff gets it done against the middle of the pack but it takes big dawgs.

It's the quarterback position, and that is not a criticism of Nico. Hendon Hooker improved greatly the more he played in college and I expect Nico to do the same.

I don't think Nico can process fast enough....or that damned helmet speaker has him overthinking things. Might be better to just let him go out and wing it. Play ball loose and free. Just react to what he sees.

To go fast, you need good o-line play, no penalties, 1st downs and explosive plays. Draw your own conclusions.
I agree with all those things listed, but that is why you practice. When its' early in the season you can excuse it , but by the end of the season, should have it down pat.

Just for a point of reference, why do the big boys= Ohio St, Georgia, Alabama not have these issues when a QB graduates or leaves the program ? Just look at the reasons offered for our stagnant offense the last 2 years ( JH doesn't trust Milton to run the offense, no receivers, poor OL, Nico needs more playing time - ) Now imagine a Kirby Smart and the Georgia fan base/ Ryan Day accepting this is just something we have to live with ? Other teams just reload, but we need 2 more years to develop our players?

It’s honestly how much time and effort are you going into preparing/studying/watching film. How many times over the years did we listen to Peyton talking about watching film for hours everyday? Practiced 100% like it was game day 24/7. Would chew anybody out if they were not at a certain standard. I hope Nico does some self reflection and realizes this isn’t high school ball anymore. My talent alone won’t be enough. Pushes himself and his teammates this offseason. Somebody has to step up and be the leader.
Absolutely! You would think Nico or any QB would be constantly studying film and working with receivers on the pass plays most likely to work when playing against the best defenses. We see it every week in the NFL - the passes thrown to a pre-determined location that only the receiver can catch. To me, he hasn't improved over the course of the season and your point about him likely not putting in the work required is likely the reason. And, if he is putting in the work already, then he's not the one.

And who's responsible for what he's got???
To an extent, but as another poster stated, it's hard to know who will put in the work, studying film and working with receivers for those vital pass plays against the best defenses. The best QB's live in that film room and work on those exact scenarios that he faced at Ohio State. Either he's not preparing or he's not the one.

Saw a segment on tv where Peyton was talking about he would stay after practice with his receivers working on their timing and knowing they would run a route a certain way . especially at the goal line. You gotta have a desire to win a game and do what ever it takes to get better
