Economic impact of Tennessee-Virginia for Nashville

Wonder what the economic impacts were for Knoxville missing out on a home game. I’m more interested in that number

While I’m all about Neyland being the home stadium for our state’s flagship university football team, they are the Tennessee Volunteers. Those of us outside of Knoxville couldn’t care less about the economic impact for either city.

Nashville averages 13 cars stolen every day. Wonder what impact playing the game there had on that average? Glass replacement for SUV's ? People got to make a living ya know.

You would think that the University of Tennessee would be front and center of the newspaper that is named The Tennessean but you would be wrong. I have to read the Knoxville paper to get any Vol’s news, Pathetic. I gave up my subscription years ago.

That spot in the schedule was never a home game. It was originally the BYU game at Provo. It’s the position of most ADs that 8 home games in a season has a negative impact due to higher season ticket costs, expense for attending an additional game, etc.

I only posted this to share the reason why you’ll see more of these games in Nashville going forward Not just Tennessee too. I could see the Sports Authority bringing other SEC schools into Nashville in the future for this kind of money.

Wonder how much more it would have generated if it was a 3:30 pm or night game? I know several people that came straight home to Knoxville as soon as the game ended. Missed out on lots of hotel rooms and meals

Yeah I’m sure there was nothing fun to do in Nashville on the Saturday night of Labor Day weekend.

Only real number is the plus minus of playing there instead of Utah. Saved a few bucks on transportation.

You can spend a wad in five minutes downtown Nashville. Hotel dinner and a few drinks is like 1,000 for two. Nashville be banking.
That’s not at all necessary to enjoy Nashville. I go several times a year for predators games, and I don’t come close to spending that. $2-300 a day per person, yes, but you have to be trying to spend that kind of money.

Add the new stadium into this equation and I certainly I agree!

You aren’t staying downtown then. Hotels start at 300 to 400. You are staying outside of downtown. You also aren’t eating downtown outside of the food hall for less than 40 per person per meal. My guess is you are going to the preds game, parking for 30, then leaving and eating somewhere else. If not, feel free to say where you stayed and where you at three meals for a total of 600 for two days for two.

Hell, good Preds seats are almost that alone.

There aren't even hotels in downtown Knoxville for 300-400 on game weekends. We found an air bnb in Nashville for 1200, but it slept 6. Dinner was about $400/couple (but we did hit a very nice place I've wanted to try for years). So yes, easily over $1000 for my wife and I, and we only stayed Saturday night.

Didn’t “miss out on a home game”. This was the bought out BYU road game that UVA agreed to play in our second home.
