Eddie George comments

We did "cheat".

Our cleats were longer than allowed under the rule in the book.

It was about equal to wearing the wrong color jersey.

Eddie George is a whiner.

That cleat length thing has been confirmed? If so, tell him we'll forfeit that victory if Ohio State will forfeit every game that Troy Smith played in, seeing as how he broke NCAA rules to attend a McNair camp.

I read this article in the paper. The whole heisman comments didnt bother me. The heisman is a media and ESPN award which means nothing at all to me. Remember Spurrier won his b/c all the good black athletes were fighting in Nam.

What got me is that he commented to CPF that he still thinks we cheated in the Citrus bowl in '97 with illegal cleats. Is this a big deal to these OSU fans? Did we really cheat??

I was kinda young then and the whole internet thing wasnt around. SO what is the real story behind CleatGate??

yes, the cleat thing is still an issue for OSU fans. i have many friends who are OSU fans and they bring it up every time i talk about that game.

Have you been to Ohio? Decade-old football losses are exciting stuff compared to most the state has to offer.

I was completely unaware that only black soldiers were sent to Vietnam.

We can tell the Heisman means nothing to you...

I was going to tell you but it's more fun this way...

Basically he said Woodson deserved it because he was the best athlete and PM didn't beat UF.

actually, the way i understood it, was those were his reason for voting for Woodson.

Yeah, the cleats were illegal but OSU questioned them before the game and the officials checked them and said they were okay.

Stemming from EG's comments in the Tennessean, I wonder if you all could help me resolve a little controversy.

I have a friend coming into town for the LSU game. He is a Michigan fan who hates Fulmer because of his successful campaign to split the '97 title between Michigan and Nebraska. It is widely speculated Fulmer did this in reaction to Peyton getting snubbed for the Heisman Trophy in favor of Charles Woodson.

In order to express his disdain, my friend is going to wear a maize and blue No. 2 jersey to the game.

My question is: will he get crap for it from the Orange Nation?

I say yes. He says we are too obtuse to get the dig. :hi:
I think it will bother people. We are not able to get over the Hiesman trophy. Anyone who says it won't matter to them is not telling the truth. Check previous post about the heisman.

I really have a huge disrespect for the Heistman.. Hypesman... whatever we want to call it today. It would suit me just fine if Tennessee players voluntarily removed themselves for consideration for it.

Heck, its basically a death sentence to your NFL career anyway.

Ask Eddie (old #2.7 himself) ...

I finally found it on my own, no thanks to you bums:) . Eddie is still bitter about the beatdown the Vols handed him after he won the hypesman.:cray:

First off I doubt anyone will careless about anything Michigan. Secondly, tell him to stop living life in the past.

Careful there...If we have to stop living in the past, then that means HAT has been right all this time, and we have nothing left to discuss and pass our days.
