Norton is only 42?

Wow.

Anywho, Norton's performance in American History X is one of my all-time favs, a complete transformation.

They are both versatile actors with loads of talent, tough pick.

I'd go with Norton.

Why is one of Depp's notable movies Platoon? He had one line and maybe one minute of screen time in the entire movie.

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas vs. Fight Club...That is how I see it. For us 30+ year olds, JDepp was the counterculture king for a long time. Before the Disney movies..

Johnny Depp and it aint close.

This is embarrassing to me that someone would even make the comparison:

Norton = one of the best actors ever
Depp = one of the most over-appreciated actors ever

Norton all the way:

Primal Fear
Rounders
American History X
Fight Club
25th Hour
The Italian Job
The Illusionist
The Painted Veil
The Incredible Hulk
Leaves of Grass

Very impressive group. You even left out a couple more I love.

Automatic point deduction to Ed for dating Courtney Love for an extended period of time has to be factored in..

I like them both, but the nod for me goes to Norton although Depp commands more $$$ per picture and is considered a bigger star.

BTW, Platoon WOULD NOT be one of Depp's notable movies.

Depp had a lot more than one minute of screen time in Platoon. The scene where he made a bong out of a gas mask was funny, the scenes where he was saving Vietnamese children from the fire was epically emotional, and (SPOILER) his death scene was amazingly acted. Depp pretty much stole the show from Sheen and dominated every scene he was featured in. Platoon is certainly one of Johnny Depp's most notable movies considering it was basically his breakthrough performance.

Hated the movie and didn't even remember that Depp was in it.

Norton should thank his agent. He's done a lot of good movies but it's not because of his acting ability. Is American History X a great movie? Yes. Is Edward Norton jacked out of his mind to fit the role? Yes. Does Edward Norton sound like a 14 year old girl? Absolutely. Edward Norton has done awesome movies and he's a solid actor. But if you honestly think he comes off as a badass while playing the heel role... we don't share the same view. Dude is the least intimidating bad guy I've ever seen. He came off as a huge pussy in Italian Job too. At least he paid people off to defend him. Mike Tyson may sound like a pansy but at least I know Mike Tyson can knock people out. Edward Norton was probably jerking off kids in the drama club growing up. I just can't buy him as a bad ass. I could definitely imagine him taking it in the ass. I'd rather not but he comes off as a giant pussy imo. He's about as bad ass as Jerry Seinfeld

Not to mention, Blow is better than ANYTHING Edward Norton could ever do. By the way, where is Edward Scissorhands, What's Eating Gilbert Grape, Don Juan Demarco, Donnie Brasco, Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas, Secret Window, Once Upon A Time In Mexico, Sleepy Hallow, Finding Neverland etc.

Poll was completely bias from the beginning imo(Platoon?? wtf). Edward Norton could compare(still lose imo) when you limit it to 3. He'd never compare when you post their entire history. Johnny Depp not only beats him for best movie but more quality movies. Even though Edward Norton is 6 years younger, I don't see him catching up. His hype has died down a bit. By the way, notice most of his best movies had a bigger name(or 3) than him in it? He's in a lot of good movies but he hasn't carried anywhere near the amount of movies Depp has.

Here are exactly all of the Johnny Depp Movies I like:

Edward Scissorhands
Donnie Brasco
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
Blow

He's so over-appreciated, and so is his catalog of works.

And you've seen What's Eating Gilbert Grape?

Don Juan DeMarco?

Desperado-Once Upon A Time In Mexico?

Secret Window?

All awesome in my opinion. Secret Window is overrated but the idea is about the same as fight club. Plus, lots of people love Charlie In The Chocolate Factory and Finding Neverland.

(1)Depp had a lot more than one minute of screen time in Platoon. (2)The scene where he made a bong out of a gas mask was funny, the scenes where he was saving Vietnamese children from the fire was epically emotional, and (SPOILER) his death scene was amazingly acted. (3)Depp pretty much stole the show from Sheen and dominated every scene he was featured in. (4)Platoon is certainly one of Johnny Depp's most notable movies considering it was basically his breakthrough performance.

(1) Scenes where he was featured or in the background with fifteen other dudes? He only had featured screen time in the village as a translator and when he carried the kid. It equals about a minute for both scenes combined.

(2) His death scene was so amazing that I don't even remember it. The scene in the village was "epically emotional", but it wasn't solely because of Depp. Drama from Entourage was equally "epically emotional" during those scenes.

(3) If you truly believe this statement then I question your sanity.

(4) Nightmare on Elm Street(1984)

I like this review. I don't agree with it. But I like the sincerity in it.

Depp's movies that I've seen and disliked, or did not care for:

Platoon
What's Eating Gilbert Grape (not bad, but I never want to see it again)
Secret Window (never to be mentioned again in the same sentence as Fight Club)
Cry-Baby
Benny & Joon
The Ninth Gate
Sleepy Hollow
Chocolat
Pirates of the Caribbean
Finding Neverland (unbearably boring)
Sweeney Todd
Public Enemies
