A trip to Knoxville last weekend left Abrams-Ward with a lot to think about and he's struggling with a decision between the Vols and his home state Tar Heels.
"They are both even right now," Abrams-Ward said. "There is no leader and I'm just trying to work toward my decision."
Many have thought Abrams-Ward would end up at North Carolina, but the Vols have continued to pursue the talented two sport star.
"The way I look at it, they are both a positive places and I can't go wrong," Abrams-Ward said. "Carolina football is on the up and up and Tennessee is there every year."
As previously noted, the 6-foot-5, 210 pound Abrams-Ward is a two sport athlete. He also excels on the basketball court and hopes to play round ball at the next level.
"I talked to Coach Pearl and he's a great guy," Abrams-Ward said. "He's very enthusiastic and he told me that it was the best decision he ever made to come to Tennessee. He said it could be a good decision for me to come too."
Abrams-Ward had been to Knoxville before, but he got to see more of what could be his future home than he expected while he was there last weekend.
"There was more for me to see and for them to offer," Abrams-Ward said. "There was more than what I expected. It's a great football state and a great city."
One of the things that Tennessee does offer is a good chance to make it to the NFL and Abrams-Ward was impressed.
"That's an eye opener," Abrams-Ward said. "Butch Davis has a good track record too. Fulmer has been there, but North Carolina hasn't had the stability in their coaching staff, but now they do."
"It's about seeing what school is going to give me my proper exposure at the next level. I'm trying to look at the future beyond college."
As for his decision, he says he'll make it on signing day with only a select few in attendance.
"I don't want all the TV and stuff," Abrams-Ward said. "I just want my family and friends there to see me sign my papers and then I'll just go on about my business."
