EJ Anosike is a Vol

Kind of reminds me of an Armani Moore type of player with a better 3 ball.

Uros, Walker, ORN, Pember, Gaines and JJJ all still on the roster and capable of playing post...go ahead and say Gaines and Pember are too skinny, but you are talking 2 years from now and potentially after a redshirt year for both, I think both very well could be small ball 4’s. Obviously no doubt that we need to add at least a post in 2021, but again with the transfer market and Tennessee increasing their attraction they could always dip right back into transfer market.
It's not only that they are too skinny. They aren't post players. Pember is more likely, but neither are SEC four or fives. It's laughable to mention Gaines at anything other than the two or three.
Of course they are still on the roster. But with ORN back in his home country and getting his minutes cut like he did, I'm skeptical he'll be back. That is strictly my opinion.

Do all graduate transfers automatically take a scholarship? Is it possible for a graduate transfer to be a walk on non-scholarship player?

Hot take prediction.

Gaines plays more minutes than walker next season. His defensive Is heading toward elite and that alone gets him into the rotation imo. He also has a good feel for finding holes and getting himself open at times on offense.

The problem with Gaines is he can't hit an outside jumper to save him. Based on the film I've seen on Walker he's definitely has a better outside stroke. Plus, there's going to be a log jam at the 3. I love Gaines' defense tenacity and energy, but a redshirt year may best so he can add weight and work on his outside shot.

He was a freshman who hasn't grown into his body. This kid is really talented. If he doesn't break into the starting lineup, I see him transferring and being a stud wherever he lands. Here's to hoping that doesn't happen!

I certainly hope he doesn't transfer, but I don't see him breaking into the starting lineup next year. There's too much well-rounded talent at the 3. Even if he grows into his body, the offensive side needs work. Not to say he doesn't have a future here. I just think we have the opportunity help him grow both physically and fundamentally.

Me: glad we signed this guy and looking forward to seeing him contribute.
Kesling: glad he goes by EJ and not his given name - Ejimōför

Yay! I think he will be fun to watch.

I had wondered in the recruiting thread if we were going to continue to look for another, taller post player for next season. That does not mean I am not excited to see Anosike play.

Maybe we don't get pushed around in the paint so much now; and we certainly need the rebounding. We already have a few people who can block shots.

Depth....a great dilemma to have! Leveraging....A couple more players just decided to become better rebounders too.

Liked and agree with your post, but on top of being able to knock down a jumper Walker needs to show the ability to guard his position at this level. I think he will, cause he’s been bought in to Barnes’s style for a while now, so effort shouldn’t be a problem. However Gaines has already shown an ability to guard multiple positions. The biggest factor IMO is Gaines willingness to do whatever is needed, whether it be redshirt or try to guard other teams 4. Why I think Ticket, Pember and ORN should redshirt next year. Jmo

I didn't read every post but this guy's game reminds me of Admiral.

I had the same thought. Just the highlights and it looks like he plays with a lot of emotion.
However, I think the highlights put more emphasis on the 3's than we can probably expect. I think he'll be doing more dirty work down low and shooting less 3's than Admiral.
I just hope we're comparing him to Admiral at the end of next season.

I Like what I see in the video.....He doesn't mind mixing it up under the goal and shoots it well. Welcome 'Back' to Big Orange Country.
