yes I use electric heat,if the old back could stand it,i would defiantly be burning wood

i had a wood burner years ago and loved it,but due to a major dose of arthritis, that isn't going to happen now

Is your home insulated well?

Are the windows and doors sealed good?

Thermal coal prices are currently lower than they were in 2009. The price of coal is not the problem.

No, the problem is the cost to build scrubber facilities and purchase commodities such as limestone and ammonia by the train load to be used in the flue gas desulfurization process to meet FGD requirements at coal burning facilities. This, along with the controversial CSAPR and MATS rulings have increased costs for processes and commodities such as activated carbon. Construction costs alone for scrubbers and bag houses can exceed 10-12 billion dollars depending on the size of the generating facility. These costs are then passed through to rate payers, and the environmental costs far exceed any reduction in thermal coal prices since 2009 or beyond. Coal may be cheaper as a commodity, but the indirect costs to burn coal and generate electricity within emissions restrictions set forth by the EPA have grown tremendously.

could somebody explain how much Obama's coal policy is going to cost me in the future ? I know it was shockingly high last year and I assume it will be worse this year and what else did he do to cause the rise in cost ?

and I assume it will probably get worse, after he has left office,am I wrong or what ? Part of the reason that I cut the satellite dish off was because of the rising price of electricity and the need to spend more cash at the grocery store

I'm in a no win situation and i can't see it getting any better

My best friend works for AEP, I can ask him if u want me to.

This summer I have had huge increases in my electric bill, last summer my highest was about $180 and this year it was about $260. My house is 2 years old and no lifestyle changes. Made me think back to "under my administration your energy bills will necessarily increase"

Do you actually think that you will get a straight answer from someone who works for AEP?

American Electric Power generates 60 percent of its electricity from coal power plants.

Actually yes because he is b!tching about how his bill has increased and he gets a discount. He told me to expect the prices to go up, how high exactly he doesnt know. He said along with massive hikes in his insurance, Obama will cause almost everyones power bill to increase.

omg!

Well I have a single speed 1.5HP pump for a 20,000 gallon pool. I just run it from 9am to 3pm. I'd run it longer (and earlier in the morning) if the damn pump wasn't near my bedroom window. The relay clicking on wakes me up everytime...but my pump is old..
I have a 40,000 gallon pool and the same size pump. Probably need to buy a bigger one this spring because we have to run the current one 24/7 to completely turn over the water.

Go with a two speed pump this time and a robot cleaner.

It would be cheaper to swim on the bottom some, wouldn't it?

No, fresh, but we are converting this coming spring

Reason I asked is three of our friends have salt systems and all had bad algae problems this year. We have an ozonator/chlorinator system and have had zero issue. Just wondering if there was a problem with the salt systems.

Nah, our problem was because I was on TDY for a two week period and the GF was on travel as well. Pool chemical level got out of balance and the Algae had a field day. Everyone I have spoken to about salt water systems seem to love them and have little issues with algae. We have shut the pool down for the year, so that will really help with our electric bill

Coming to the US/California soon...

Property owners who fail to comply with new energy efficiency rules could face prison under government plans that have sparked a backlash from Tory MPs.

Ministers want to grant themselves powers to create new criminal offences and increase civil penalties as part of efforts to hit net zero targets. Under the proposals, people who fall foul of regulations to reduce their energy consumption could face up to a year in prison and fines of up to £15,000.
