Elite Eight (Sunday) thread

All I'm saying is the SEC was universally panned and 2 out of the 4 teams left are from the SEC.

One of those was the preseason #1, the other the current #1. Don't forget that the fourth-best team in the conference was a Missouri team blown off the floor in their last relevant game by Tennessee.

Not a big SEC...SEC....SEC guy but would love to see and all SEC final between FL and KY. The one off year in football. :clapping:

The notion of having to beat Kentucky four times in one season is pretty rough.

I'd say they're looking forward to the re-match.

in '86 the Cats beat LSU 3 times - twice in regular season, then once in the SEC tourney. Fourth time wasn't so lucky for the Cats, as LSU rolled to a Final Four.

Schedule for 1985-86

We still have the UConn loss to avenge, but yeah...I'm not looking forward to potentially playing UK a fourth time either.

They're a completely different team now.

In my mind the biggest factor is that this a neutral sight. Both games away from UF home were close. I have no idea which side to lean toward, if it comes to that.

Not having Cauley Stein will hurt I'm afraid, against Patrick young.

i think the fact that connecticut got to play michigan state at MSG was a big deal in that contest.

Oh I agree. But the court and the venue is still neutral. Done setting, No friendly confines, home court bounces, student sections. UK was flat intimidated playing at Florida. They would have no reason to be so in Texas.

I watched that whole game patiently waiting to see that McGary punk bawling after the loss.

The SEC is the worst major conference in bball. But still better than the big east or AAC. Still, considering that it would be pretty tremendous to have 2 teams from a bad conference in the final

If kentucky continues to play like it has in the last two games, the cats beat florida by 8--if they both win their first games and those are big ifs. I think kentucky will win, not sure about florida. I look at florida and don't see a title team--but of course they are the only one of the last four who was really expected to be in final four.

The SEC holds it's own pretty good IMO. If the SEC wins this year, they will only be second to the PAC-12 for most basketball championships.

Correct me if I'm wrong but the Pac 12 hasn't won a title since 97. Since then the SEC has won 4 titles (2 for UF and UK each).

I guess UCLA helps a little.

Pretty sure they will be tied for 2nd with the ACC for 12 each.

Both conferences are top heavy on the curve because of one school in the conference.

As it stands, the PAC12 has 15 (11 are UCLA) and the SEC has 11 (8 are UK)

The SEC at least has 2 schools who hold multiple titles, the ACC has 3. (Not including Louisville)

I'll let you guess how many the PAC12 has.
