Elliot Williams is a serious talent..

He is meeting with the UM coaches to see if he is comfortable with them. He has said he is looking around but UM is still one of the schools.

I definitely think we would be near the top of his list if he decides to leave UM and gets released.

i saw "e-mail" play a bunch of times this year cuz i play in his league, and the kid is the real deal. he may be a great pg, but from what i've seen, he would have to really learn the position like ramar did. hopefully he can make the same transition ramar did. he certainly has the talent and discipline to do it. he is much more of a shooter than ppl say.

Harris would probably come in and contribute right away. He definitely would next year when Lofton and J. Smith are gone. I think Ramar will be around for his junior year because he won't be able to score as much as he could because of J. Smith and Lofton.

yeah, Ramar is prob. gonna stay until he is at least a junior... Unless they win the Nat. champ and he does f'n awesome in the tournament..
So that's why i just wanna get the better one between Harris/Williams.. Cause even if we get Harris, we wont need him as much next year... The year after we could use him alot.. But if E-mail is better, then id like to have him instead.. And plus E-mail is better suited for the PG position.. Harris is a SG.. So E-mail could fill Ramar's spot when he leaves..
So personally, id rather have E-mail.. It would be awesome to have both, but it looks like we can only get one and we already have Tabb, Tatum, Prince who can play the SG.. Behind Ramar, we got nobody who can play the point..

Prince plays point as does Jordan Howell. Pearl could also convert Harris into a pg if he wants to like he did Ramar because Ramar was a SG out of high school: this was his first year at the point

If we don't land Elliot for PG, we could probably land Angelo Johnson as a backup plan.

I'd take Harris if he wants to come because Williams isn't a guarantee.

I thought Johnson wants to commit sooner rather than later, and right now we aren't focused on him.

We aren't pushing for him right now so I'd say it won't be UT if it's earlier. If he waits and we miss on Williams, I think we would land him easily. He has said UT and USC are his top 2 but Floyd already has one of the top PGs for the 08 class committed and have a few others rated ahead of Angelo if they take another.

Some news on Williams from the Memphis Commercial Appeal:

"I'm starting to get some new ones now (letters), like Duke and North Carolina. I wasn't expecting those," said Williams...."Right now, I've kind of brought it down to Tennessee, Memphis, Clemson, Virginia, and Vanderbilt. Those are my main five. Duke, North Carolina, and Texas are on me now, but I'm still really focusing on those five right now."

Nice, he mentions UT first when naming his list of schools. I'm not saying that means he favors the Vols, but we are first on his mind, I guess. And I guess this shows how important it is to start recruiting a player early. I have to think if UNC or Duke got in the fold earlier, they could have replaced a Clemson or UVA.

More from the article:

"I think with his versatility, his athleticism, and his ability to cover ground defensively, he's almost like a 6'4" Corey Brewer. I think that alone makes him a five-star prospect," Rivals.com basketball analyst Jerry Meyer said. "Now, he has a chance to be an elite prospect, and we're talking upper-echelon, surefire pro-type guy, if he either becomes a more consistent outside shooter and solidifies himself as a true shooting guard, or if he shore up his ball-handling and play-making skills and becomes a point guard."

Yes.

Rob Lewis is/was at a tourney that Williams is participating in and said coaches from all of those schools were there to watch him. He said that Coach K got there especially early and positioned himself at halfcourt where he was visibly noticeable.

As expected, Williams has been upgraded to 5-stars on Rivals.com. They now list Williams as the #20 overall player in the country.

Singleton and E. Williams are locks for TN. You heard it here first. :dance2:

Now if we could just land Darrius Miller - won't happen though. We'll probably make Shumpert our 4th in this class.

Shumpert
