Those doorways were called needle's eyes later, and there were none in the vicinity of Christ at that time. Or at least that is what I was told. Methinks some scholars spend a lot of time figuring out ways in which the rich can still get into heaven after all. Christ also spoke of people swallowing camels after complaining of gnats. Is that also a literal phrase?
Hyperbole maybe.

I don't know one way or the other. I just thought it was amusing that there have been many folks take that bit of scripture and seemingly try to water it down. Why? The point is one is supposed to have great humility, be generous, and live their life in preparation for eternity. Wealth-building in and of itself could easily be a distraction or roadblock from that course. Rich folks don't want to hear it, but that was the point Christ was making either way.
