Why are the Detriot Lions always terrible, or the mets and cubs always underachieve? Becuase those franchises don't know how to hire good people and draft the right players. Tennessee is the same way. We got lucky with Pearl. Every other hire we have ever had has basically failed. Some programs just don't win. It's a fact. I have zero confidence we will get a good hire.

exactly. None of the names and faces have ever changed around here so we're.......DOOMED. Niedermayer...DEAD.

I don't think we'd see the tourney for a year or two if Pearl stayed. It's going to be EPICALLY annoying to have to listen to all the Pearlophiles gloat next year if we don't make the tournament, when that was likely to not happen anyway. Phillip Fulmer situation reborn.

I don't think the program would be doomed if Pearl were to "leave". But I don't think it will be as smooth as a transition as some other seem to think it will be.

Roy Williams didn't lie to the NCAA.

I always love it when people want to draw comparisons between Bruce and a guy who has more than a dozen conference championships, 6 final fours and 2 national titles while running generally clean programs because the coach missed the tournament once in 20 years.

I agree with the OP that Pearl's staff is a top 15 floor staff. He and his staff find ways to upset teams up much better talent than his own.

We will miss Pearl, there is no doubt about it. Not saying we should keep him, but as far as coaching talent we are kidding ourselves if we think Pearl isn't a top coach. The next coach will either be worse or just a lateral move.

Again I invite all the gloom and doomers to stop following UT after Pearl is gone.

And I mean all UT, you can't root for football either because I don't want your bandwagon self there either.
