Cooper Mays, Cooper Mays, for some weird reason people cannot stop talking about Cooper Mays. Was listing to a VQ pod and they were talking about Cooper being a main reason that the offense has looked better. I see so many unintelligent posts claiming that Cooper is the most important player on the team. I like Coop and appreciate all he has done, but he's a center and trying to give him all the credit is shortchanging the guys who deserve the credit. Let me repeat, HE IS A CENTER!. Milton and Wright have been playing terrific lately and they are the reason that we look different the last few weeks. Again, I like Cooper, but he's just a center, his job is to snap and block. I even played center on two teams just because no one else on the team wanted to. The QB would make all the calls and all I had to do was snap the ball and run my route (it was a league where the center is an eligible receiver). My role was nowhere near the role of the QB, and that would be even more magnified in the SEC. So please give credit where credit is due and stop with the dumb statements about a center being the savior for our team, I don't want to hear it from anyone else.
Just a center? Snap and Block is his job? is that all a center does in the game of football in this era?

You're most definitely either the most ignorant poster on this board or a troll of epic proportion.

The center IS one of the most important players on the team. Just because his name doesnt get valled out by the announcers most common fans assume that position isnt important. But when did thr line get better?

I am always amazed at how little credit offensive lines get by tyoical fans and their favorite talk show hosts.

PS in any game you watch at the collegiate level or below(probably NFL also, but i rarely watch) anytime a center is injured the chances of a fumbled exchange or a bad snap imcreases dramatically.

Aside from the QB, the center is the second most important person on offense. He controls the o-line, handles the ball more than even the QB (depending on play calling, obviously), commands the tempo, and calls out checks on d-line and linemen. So if you have someone who doesn’t know what they’re doing (Ollie Lane), then you face serious repercussions.

I don’t have the time nor the desire to do this, but has anyone compiled the statistics of how we did without Coop and compared the offensive numbers to how we’re doing now? Just on recent memory, I recall the offense being slower and don’t recall any huge runs from Wright when Mays was out (not saying Mays was a main reason for the latter, but I’d argue he played a part).

For the life of me I can’t understand why you care so much about what guys on a podcast say about our players.

Tell me you played Center on a team that ran Pee Wee league team plays. "Hey, the guy in front of you, Block him", simple as that, you Listening. Without telling me.

I find it weird that people are so obsessed with opinions too. Opinionated media content goes in one ear and out the other for me. Everyone should try just listening to your own. I always agree with myself. It's glorious.

Also Cooper MFn Mays.

No it's not. Just because our fans say this doesn't mean it's not dumb. It's just like when people say that Brock Bowers might be the most important player for UGA, that's a dumb take too. He's a tight end. It's impossible for a tight end to be the most important player. Don't believe me? Look at the rankings of positional value The pyramid: A visual of John Dorsey's production

I am just sick and tired of Joe not getting his due credit. He was bad at the beginning of the season but he's balling now.
This just in: Cooper Mays is not important to the Vols and Travis Kelce is not important to the Chiefs.

You have a low posts count. It would be best if it stayed that way. That was one of the worst diatribes I’ve ever read on here and that’s saying something.
