I've been very hesitant to say Pearl should be fired. This situation as a whole has no doubt been very bad for the program. Tonight was the final straw for me. While I hope Tennessee does well while he is here, it's become clear that Pearl needs to be removed for the overall health of the program.

It pains me to say, as I've been a Pearl supporter since he was hired and have really enjoyed watching him improve the program and coach during his time here. All in all, the damage this has and will do to the program cannot be overlooked. I look forward to the next chapter of our program whenever it begins.

what i want to see is a jump shooter and a ball handler. Why can no one shoot a jumper on our team? and why is our point guard play so terrible? that would solve our offensive problems. I don't think pearl needs to go yet, but he needs to learn how to recruit pgs that can actually handle the ball and distribute it efficiently, and he needs to find some pure shooters that can knock down a dang jump shot.

Maybe you can go get Buzz Peterson to coach for the VOLS. Remember him,how about Jerry Green. Pearl lied. Other than that it was secondary.:peace2:

Hopson was doing a pretty good job knocking them down all night and he doesn't even get a touch at the end of the game? And why no time out. This stuff is getting crazy. This has been one of the worst years watching UT ball because the potential and talent is there. I just hope we can save face by the end of the year.

Inability to coach halfcourt offense or recruit a quality point guard would be a couple of good starting points.

got Chris Jones coming in next year and he'll take over the top PG spot, besides that we gotta stick with the bad play now and hope Tobias gets back to being Tobias

Last I heard Jones still has work to do just to get in school next year.

I agree with the OP. I have really enjoyed Pearl as our coach, but there comes a time when a move needs to be made. Can't really think of any good replacements, but maybe whoever comes can run a friggin play in the last seconds of a game to get us a shot rather than taking a 3 when we are tied or down by only 1.

I think with C.Jones he has gone to a Prep school and MOST likely get in next year

Seems like you're so afraid of making a change that you would rather run the program into the ground with Pearl than try something else which may actually work.

Look, I'll pull the trigger when the time comes. It's just a little early since we just went to the elite 8 last yr. Let the off the court junk play out. Then see where we are.:loco:

Good lord, why did you come to this conclusion after a road swing through Gainesville and Lexington? Can't people at least wait until March to become reactionary?

I'm glad some of you aren't ADs or we'd be firing people after every bad stretch of games or one mediocre season.

I would be very hesitant to hang the future of our basketball program on Chris Jones.

This game was big, and we had a chance to win it at the end. Hit some free throws and the board is completely different.

:mad: listen I have been mad at Pearl several time this year but, I don't want another coach. He is a great coach. and our players are going to bounce back. The ncaa has Pearl stressed out when all this is behind him he will be OK. Go Pearl and the Vols.

This season isn't over yet, and maybe I'm misunderstanding your post, but I don't think being a bubble team with a .500 conference record qualifies as "running the program into ground".

I would be stressed to if i lied straight to the NCAA's face and was prob going to get suspended for a year.
