Enrique Davis

Doesn't matter if we bring in the 20 best players in the country every year, if we have a coaching staff who can't develop the talent then it means nothing.

Until we get about 20 Eric Berry's who don't have to be taught how to tackle (not like Chavis could properly teach that anyways) it prob won't matter.

that is true

Last year, Tennessee was blessed by a rare bumper crop of in-state talent, a couple of highly rated out-of-state legacies, and they got a second helping of Vinson. If you look at the overall post-2005 trend, which really was a watershed season (for bad of course), the trend is not going in the right direction. The stars really lined up for UTK last year, whereas 2006 and 2008 are probably more indicative of what we can expect as an average year for UTK recruiting in the near future. Yes, there were staff changes and the recent arrests are not helping either BUT the Vols were in the SECCG and they won a bowl, go to 10 wins, etc. For the kids who like to go with a hot program, UTK's accomplishments in the season should've offset the loss of some coaches and a few post-season antics. There is always a chance that given the opportunity to recruit for the Vols year-round, the new coaches will knock it out but I am not holding my breath. This program is where it is. Go Vols.

The program is at a point to where winning 9 games and beating a mediocre Big 10 team in the Outback Bowl is now considered a "good" season. Fulmer said it last year that 9 wins was "OK" at Tennessee. Obviously, going to the SECCG and winning a middle-of-the-road bowl game is now acceptable, to the coach anyways.

While I do not like where Tennessee has been headed, going to the SECCG every 3 years is pretty good. Now win the damn thing and I'll be happy.

John Adams wrote in the KNS recently that Tennessee is the new Arkansas of the Eastern division.. good enough to get to the SECCG occassionally but not good enough to win it.

OK means not great and not terrible. You're taking it out of context

Well if John Adams said it...

Well if John Adams said it...

I was simply making a reference. I'm not implying anything John Adams says is true, but in this case, it makes a lot of sense. We've been to the SECCG 3 times this decade, good enough to get there. We've lost 3 SECCG games this decade, not good enough to win it. You're taking my post out of context.

It's starting to look like we only sign 1 extra prospect on NSD.

Thomas - UT, JUCO
Davis - Auburn
Coples, Ward - Carolina
McClain - Clemson
Lewis - Miami

guy on the main rivals board said he had made up his ind and that he liked ole miss alot. FWIW the guy that said this isn't really well respected around there.

Well see in a few hours... AU has an obvious edge. He rated his Ole Miss visit a 10, so that speaks for itself. Then he seemed really interested in UT. I can't wait till 10 A.M.

7:00am EST: Already, we are hearing some big news coming up later today as Enrique Davis, an Auburn signee last year at Hargrave Military Academy, plans to announce his commitment today at 10:45 with the rest of his Hargrave teammates. He is looking at Tennessee, Ole Miss, and Auburn and we are hearing he should stick with his original commitment of Auburn. -- Miller Safrit
