i was under the impression that you guys thought mineral rights below a certain depth didnt belong to the landowner.

In france, anything a foot below the surface belongs to the state.

As for the forced pooling, it sucks, but the o/g company will drill anyway and tell the 1/3rd acre owner to set a court date where a judge will figure it out

What is the current law? I imagine it different state by state. How far down to the property rights go?

Ive never heard of any level to where they stop. Its definitely a state by state issue

I figured it was an indefinite depth. I just find that interesting considering the curvature of the Earth. Then again, most property rights worries are fairly shallow.

has to stop somewhere in the middle or you are claiming the property of someone on the other side of the globe.

I'd like to think I at least own some magma

It must, at some point, stop arbitrarily; else, anyone with real property will have an equal claim to an indivisible entity (this is probably another reason to believe the property rights are not natural human rights, but legal rights). If the line is going to be drawn arbitrarily, then it is only a legal issue of where that line is drawn. It would be nice if it were codified by a Constitutional Amendment.
